While what you say is true, my Escort 9500ix has saved me countless times from laser. Although once painted with it your toast, but by my detector telling me I am being painted at least I was aware of being watched, several times on vacation or traveling I was thinking of getting on it and bam alerted that I was painted. And watched my speed. They have laser jammers out that scramble the signals of laser but once alerted of being painted you need to very quickly reduce speed and turn it off so it gives a corrected reading. Escort 9500 was the best 500 I ever spent 7 years ago, and have not found a better one since. With in my dollar figure. Not to mention mine has a rear view mirror bracket so it’s out my way and direct wire to my mirror so no cords hanging.

That’s the same one I have in both my truck and wife’s car. We, too, have the blendmount and wiretap in both vehicles.

I think it’s the best for the money, now I bought mine like 7 years ago, it was 5 hundo. Had the mount on my Suburban, Silverado and now my tundra. Nice not having to hid it . So you know what I am talking about when I say it helps with laser.

Yeah, we’ve had ours a long time too. I forget what we paid, but It was worth it for sure. Before the 9500, I had the 8500 x50 for awhile. Now, I’m been looking at the 360

V1 is definitely the best out. Had it in my M6. Worked every time except that one time doing 145 on an on ramp....ooops. cop took all my FOP and PBA cards and no ticket. happy to be driving my truck now....

I drive ~1k miles a week, always pushing it. I've tried them all, and made it full circle back to my Valentine one. It's paid for itself over and over again. The V1 has been the difference between a 140-160+ ticket to a 10-15 over ticket, which I'll take anytime over what the actual was. (Obviously in other vehicles besides the tundra) The arrows are a big save and the counter as well. One time I had my V1 running side by side to the latest escort and the v1 went off a good 10+ seconds before the escort. My buddy without saying a word ripped the escort off the dash, threw it out the window, picked up the phone and bought a v1, it was hilarious.
The guys talking about Ka instant on and laser are right. Once you're hit it's too late, most of the time. Another plus for the v1 is that as tech changes they'll do an upgrade for a reduced cost.

The problem with Waze app is it has a tendency to route a lot of people to normally quite residential streets causing congestion and unsafe speeds. There have been a lot of complaints about the app even here in CO with all the people moving here....

running boards , TRD sway bar and tundra 08 SR5 wheels. FRACmod, pop&lock and backup sensors installed .
V1 with a blend mount , hooked up to my OBDII and Bluetooth connection to iPhone 7+ while running Waze . With the apps you can set custom scans and run dark with your phone alerting you V1 is the way to go! I sent my 10 y/o one in for the new model and it works so nice , no crap from blind spot / auto cruse control on other cars !

now if you are by yourself and top a hill , well it may do you no good. In Mississippi not much instant on being used :amen:

It's too bad all the misinformation and bad advice given when the OP is only asking what to look for in buying an RD.

OP, I'd suggest going to a dedicated radar detector forum. You will learn all you need and nothing you don't in less than 20 minutes.

Can you write a speeding ticket without points? Just pay the fine???

Or ALL moving = points ( unless cited by the stationary red light etc cameras)??

    Just curious....

We have a small town here north of Columbus Ohio. Worthington when they pull you over you get a ticket and it’s for mayors court. No points just a hit on the wallet.

Not that I’m aware of. Out here you can get points reduced by paying early so technically it can be 0 if criteria is met

Ok. I guess some states are different, didn’t know if there was an exception.

*knock on wood*, going 8 years and counting without one

I have a Uniden R3 with a blendmount and mirror tap in my other car. Unfortunately it won't help if the cop is using laser but if they still use radar in your state then I would highly recommend the R3. The range is awesome and it's also shielded to be undetectable. I live in the DMV and frequently drive in MD, DC, VA where the stealth of the r3 comes in handy cause 2 of the three states the detector is illegal. If you check the dedicated radar forums the r3 has favorable reviews, and many hobbyists like it because of the extreme range it has. Another useful feature is that it utilizes gps and a database to warn you of speed traps and redlight cameras.

I'll echo the sentiment of other detector connessueirs in this thread. The Cincinnati Microwave V1 is top notch. Haven't been stopped for speeding in the 20+ years I have owned one. I send it back every few years and they update the unit to the latest features - or send me a new one.

Routinely provides "instant-on" alerts way beyond the time needed. (I.e. Detects instant-on hits from vehicles being painted up to a mile in front of me). I've also been pre-alerted with laser glints from vehicles ahead of me. The laser is usually aimed at the target vehicle front plate, but glints and reflections from vehicles ahead of you are detectable with a good detector like the V1... and they demand immediate braking.

The other tried and true solution is to slow down and enjoy the Tundra drive. But to each his own.
