i had Sumo springs on my last Tundra and loved them. Recently traded it off for a 2016 and ordered the sumos again. Crawled under to swap them out today and noticed the original bump stops have been cut down to maybe a half inch in height, you can see the saw marks. What would be the purpose of cutting them down?

Some air bag setups tell you to sawz-all the top of the bump stops.

My airbag directions said to do that, but I just removed them instead.

That was the only thing I could think of but ive never used airbags so I wasn’t sure if they cut them off or just replaced them with the airbag bracket.

I bought it used with about 23,000 miles on it. Doesn’t look like it’s ever seen a gravel road and the powder coating isn’t even scratched on the inside of the receiver hitch which now makes me wonder if it was ever used to tow. If not, why would they have added airbags? Maybe they planned to but never did? Guess it doesn’t really matter just seems odd.

Maybe they hauled heavy loads in the bed. That would be the only reason to cut the bumpstops.
