So after 1 day of driving with the new wide Toyo MT's on the truck, I have already determined that either:

    A) I need to get some sort of flares or wider mudflaps.

    or

    B) I need to be ok with the rocker panels on my truck being beat to crap.

I like the look of the Bushwacker flares, but do they add much protection? What else is out there that looks decent?20171222_113008.jpg

I put on a set Stampede Flares made by Bushwacker. The Stampedes give me enough coverage to prevent rock dings. Bushwackers provide even more coverage. All depends on how far out your tires stick out.

Bushwacker coverage pics. I was getting some healthy scratches before, not so much now. You might need to add a 10mm spacer tho unless you want the "tucked in" look.

I know with the Bushwacker pocket style, you must remove the mud flaps. Does removing the mudflaps negate the added protection of the flares?

I removed mud flaps. Didn't need them any more.

Everything Ive been looking at points to the pocket style. I like the look of both the paint-matched and the matte black. I think with where I am going with my truck
appearance wise, the matte black will look better, not to mention less $$$.

The Pockets will have more than enough coverage for sure and you will definitely have to lose the mud flappers..............

I can’t stand the look of mud flaps, and I have ripped them off a time or two.

That being said, I can’t stand rock chips and paintwork cost a bit more.

The right mud flaps look good and work even better. I have the molded huskyliner brand on my truck and really don’t like them. Seems like they are more for looks.

Now a quality mud flap like duraflap is a game changer. I’m pretty sure I’m going with these next year.

    https://duraflap.com/

This is my current truck without mud flaps and you can see even at low speeds the quarter panels get hit.

    And today...

So they keep the big stuff off, but still allows the steps to get caked up with mud and snow.

Hey, @hartebreak. Buddy, I've only seen 2 threads you've posted and both were about stuff going wrong. I vote you change your sign-on moniker, even just a bit. Maybe it'll work in your favour, and everything will come easy. BigHarte; Hartebreaker; LightHarte; HarteofGold; StrongHarte

    P.S. That's a good looking truck!

I’ve got the OEM pocketed flares. I don’t love the tucked in look I have now but the functionality is awesome. No need for mudflaps and offer great protection.
