I was a major android fan when it first came out. I was younger and loved the customization and freedom to essentially do whatever I wanted with it. I soon discovered though that the problem with open source software is that it’s very easy pass the blame on to someone else when something doesn’t go right. I had 3 phones and 1 tablet with major issues such as freezing when receiving a call, constant restarting etc with no fix because it was the blame was placed on someone besides the manufacturer of the phone.
I switched to Apple knowing that it is overpriced and semi outdated tech. I have since switched my entire household to macs, iPads, Apple TVs etc. It all works and has never given me any real trouble.
It all depends on what you want. Some people love having the customization and newest tech that open source software provides. I happen to be lazy and just want my stuff to work when I need it to and will happily overpay a little bit to make sure that it does.

Was android. Switched to Apple. Hated it. Went back to Droid. I also have a very nicely done Microsoft Lumia Windows 10 phone with Continuum which is awesome to use at the lab. The platform was really never intended for non business applications. Never was very many apps available but the phone kicks ass at work. Not too surprised that Microsoft went a different route even though the technology behind the windows phone was top notch. I'd like to upgrade to the Pixel 2 phone. It's funny, you always see Apple products prominently on TV and in the movies in a lab setting but go to pretty much any real lab and like already mentioned....Windows based or Linux...for good reason....

Typing this from my new Pixel 2. Been playing with it for about 2 hours now and so far so good. Seems it will be an easy transition from the iPhone but only time will tell. I can say this phone is blazing fast and I haven't had to charge it yet...

I've had mine since it launched and average around 15 hours of mixed use considering I've got no home wifi.

I'll say this I've never had any issues with random restarts, dropped calls, etc, but I've always had a Motorola or Google phone. Most of the issues people have is from the manufacturers garbage on top of the vanilla android system.

Ok, Android users... found my first issue with my new Pixel 2 today that I'm hoping can be resolved.

The problem is sending and receiving videos using the MMS. On my phone the video is crystal clear but as soon as I go to add a video to send in MMS, all the videos and pictures get pixelated. They look horrible! I had a couple people send me videos as well and they say they're crystal clear but when I view them they are all pixelated. They are also not experiencing my issues either. My wife and I signed up for Allo, but even that is not sending good quality pictures or videos and it doesn't help at all when we want to send or receive from iPhone users. What gives?

My wife is ready to return the phone because she wanted this phone for the camera but this is a deal breaker for her.

Lol... welcome to Android. Remember when I said my wife misses iMessage? Thats why. Best way is to share links to the video via Google Photos.

There is no great fix for that my friend. Its just the underlying technology... which isn't iMessage.

And for the record, she returned hers for an iPhone 8, as she couldn't live without iMessage. She still reaches for my phone over her own when she wants to take pictures though.

This is not good, as if there is no fix, the wife will want to go back to iphone.

One neat feature with Google Photos is you can link your accounts. So from yours, you can see all your wifes stuff and vice-versa... picture sharing between us was never the issues, it was the rest of her family

Haha sorry man. You can keep yours! Its the best phone on the market (IMO), but if you are locked into iMessage/Facetime, no go. My wife is sitting next to me as I write to you and said "I miss my Pixel. Its better than my iPhone 8+, but I need iMessage."

I have to admit, this is pretty disappointing! Verizon charges a $35 restocking fee per phone to return them. I will be fighting that.

I've always had Android, and always will. I'm still sporting the droid turbo, been a great phone. I've been contemplating getting the new pixel. Oh, you couldn't give me a high priced piece of shit iPhone. My oldest son and wife both have iPhones. iPhones are like condoms with holes in them, ain't worth a shit.

I really like my pixel 2. The transition has been pretty seamless so far for me but for the wife, not so much. We've already been back to swap her back to an iPhone but it was going to cost a lot. Told her she's going to have to deal with the pixel. She'll figure it out eventually.

A buddy of just switched from the turbo to the pixel about a month ago, he said the same thing. I may go get me one. I've been due for an upgrade for a year and a half, every time I've went and looked at upgrading, didn't see anything I wanted. And of course the snowflake I was dealing with, always tried getting me to go to a iPhone. Can't stand a salesman trying to sell me something that I don't give 2 shits about.
