Hey there anyone who is viewing. Just picked up my 2016 Tundra TSS. Love the truck, wish it had a little more HP off the line but I'd rather have looks, longevity and features than speed. I looked at a few 2014 Raptors and considered ordering a 2017 as without doubt, they look pretty bad ass and have some get up to them... however each used 2014 I drove, I couldn't help but feel the truck wouldn't last beyond 60k miles without having problems (or sooner).

It was right about the time I started to buy my wife a 4Runner, I stopped and thought "maybe I'll look at a Tundra, they look pretty cool". About an hour later I was driving one home. My only issue was deciding between the 1794, ordering a TRD Pro or just grabbing the TSS and adding what I wanted to it.

That all said, I'm looking to do just that and glad I found the forum. I've already ran across a ton of helpful hints on the Nav, lifts and other tasteful additions. Hope to contribute as much as others over time. Thanks all!

I also looked at the Raptor. Once I got over the cool factor, I decided it's WAY more truck than I need or will ever need.

I had recently got out of a gen 2 Tacoma and loved it so I checked out the Tundra and the rest is history.

Welcome aboard and you won't regret your purchase.

Thanks all! Yeah, I felt the same way about the Raptor. Looked cool. Ran quick. But for the money, I could sink everything I wanted into the Tundra and end up with a FAR superior truck in my opinion. As for upgrades, I've got a 6-7" BDS lift scheduled for next week, some grill mods (going mostly black with either TRD Pro grill or similar) adding in a lightbar in the lower grill facia and some LED headlamps. The stock headlights are... well... not great for visibility. I'll probably add a few performance stuff this month (exhaust, intake, simple stuff).

Any advise, I'm absolutely all ears. I don't want a speed demon but would like some clean nice looks with useful additions. I started with the Pro Comp lift but was talked into BDS for ride quality. Tires/Wheels, the stock 20" that came on it are pretty damn nice. I'd like to add a little more width to it but heard from a few that I might be limited on how wide I can go. Again, this will be more of a daily/or weekly driver as my 2nd vehicle. So, not much off road other than for a little fun here and there.

Again, thanks all! Glad I found this forum!

What lightbar brands are you looking? With a nice, new truck and lift setup, I would stay clear from some Chinese made crap and go with something proven such as Rigid Industries, or @Baja Designs
Get a lightbar that actually puts out what it advertises based on its copper system, backed by a legit warranty, great throw pattern, and will last forever.

Welcome! One of my neighbors has a Raptor, he's dropped big bucks into it as if the price tag on the SVT wasn't enough already.

Yeah. Agreed on the Raptor piece. I'd rather have a 500hp Tundra for less money any day of the week.

I'm looking at Headlight Revolutions 33" behind the grill mounted bar for $500. I've also been eyeing out some Zombie bars for a more custom install at my local Off Road shop (Mikes Off Road). I can get a pretty decent Zombie 30" for the lower facia of the grill and a smaller one for the larger top part for about $1200 installed. I wouldn't mind doing it myself but I have the patience of a Donkey. ;-) I'd love to find an easy mounting option like the ones found on Headlight Revolution but... they are on back order. :-(

I have to admit though, the front camera would be very helpful when you're off-road.
    But...that too can be added.

Yeah, there were a lot of nice things on the Raptor. The only problem I really had (aside from the value for the $$$) was even the only one I could find local with under 20k miles, still felt a little... unreliable. It just felt like it wouldn't last beyond 40k miles without needing something replaced. Suspension felt decent. Motor felt good. Transmission felt suspect. This was the second Raptor I drove that felt the same so it could've just been the design.

Either way, I would have some serious heartburn buying any aftermarket parts on a $55k used truck! So far, I've added a 3/1 lift, ordered the TRD paint matched grill, LED's for the entire truck, Fuel Vapor wheels with Toyo Country M/T's, a Flowmaster Outlaw exhaust and two 30" lightbars along with an NFab mount (one stealth behind the grill, the other in the NFab). All for about $10k less than the used Raptor. :). The way I figure it, I've got another 10k to spend on the supercharger, injectors and other requirements. I'll live w/o the camera! ;-)

I saw the new Shelby Raptor at SEMA... 700hp sounds fun!
