My buddy told me the TRD off road sticker on my truck is just that, a sticker. Because it isn't a 4x4, is that true?

    TRD package includes suspension/wheel "upgrades".

doesnt necessarily mean its a 4x4

Does he have a Z71 sticker on his truck? :boink: Doesn't mean it's 4x4 either... some folks don't realize that. :stirthepot:

No locker on Tundras. But they do come with engine and gas tank skid plates.

Just a few, more to come
TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development.
The sticker on a Tundra signifies an option package nowadays. TRD offroad package on the Tundra most likely includes an SR5 upgrade package, and adds a few more things.... Bilstein 4600 series shocks, 'skid plates', a LSD (mechanical previously, now electronic), and usually a specific upgraded aluminum wheel to the package.

With all this being said, I have seen TRD bedside decals on trucks that didn't have the TRD package. Owner just bought the sticker and put it on.

I've noticed that too. Very lame. It may be the reason so many here have removed their TRD badging.

You know, you are not too far off base. During my 4 years in Japan I saw a lot of poorly (to be kind) translated T shirts, signs, etc. For a while I taught conversational English in my spare time. (No, It wasn't only to pick up Japanese girls) Imagine trying to explain the meaning of, "ear of corn", a "New York " minute, "sup?" While there I drove a Starlet = USA> Tercel and a "FairLady" = USA> 240Z.

By the way, a Mitsubishi Galant was called "Gloria" in Japan. heh heh

OK, You got me. Guilty. It was totally to pick up Japanese girls. Do as the Romans do. (Learning the local lingo has its benefits) "kawaii desu", "you are beautiful" :infantry:
