Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
    I wouldn't mind an electric tundra with instant torque and a 0-60 @ ~3sec.
If they could just figure out the whole charge time and range thing....

Looks like they carefully said every Toyota and Lexus model and later mentioned cars, but never actually said trucks. Hmmmm...

Personally, the only "negative" to the Tundra is the gas mileage. Not that it's bad, but it could be better. I'd be very happy with a hybrid system which would fit my needs for most days.

I noticed that too. It says every model but then it only talks about cars.

I agree a hybrid system would work for me most of the time.

I've occasionally been borrowing the neighbor's 2009 hybrid Camry while my truck is in the body shop getting undented. Really like the push button "start". I now understand why so many talk about wishing the Tundra had it. It's certainly a different feel, especially when climbing out of the driveway via electric only. You just press the throttle and it moves, there isn't that "wind up" engagement of the transmission. Not sure how else to explain that. It's super quiet, like driving a magic carpet. It's not overly powerful though, I think it's output it equivalent to 190hp or so.

There is no way I'm buying an electric car anytime in the near to mid future. Makes no sense economically and truthfully it makes no sense environmentally. Bloomberg news published an article that breaks down the energy and environmental costs of a Tesla vs. a SUV over the lifetime of the vehicle. Guess which one won.

I've been following the battery technology and its a long long way from instant or even really fast charging. People are working on Graphene battery technology which would make charges very fast -IF- the current is available to make the charge. Millions of cars needing frequent recharging passes the burden onto the grid infrastructure and electric energy producers. If much higher levels of electric energy must be generated, where is it going to come from? Windmills and solar panels ain't gonna do it. There would have to be more production made up by natural gas, coal, nuclear, or very expensive "renewable" sustainable energy sources. In the end, we will pay a lot more to drive than we do now.

I love gasoline and I will be very sad when they force us to use rechargeable batteries to replace it. Currently, when the power goes out I know I can pull my little gas powered generator out to keep my fridge and lights running cuz I keep 10-20 gallons of fuel around just in case. What are you going to do if you don't have gasoline anymore?

Blame the manufacturers that promised 'clean diesel' in Europe. Clean diesel doesn't exist. They sold lies to the governments of Europe, who then realized diesel emissions are more hazardous then gasoline after loads of money spent on research, hence the ban on diesel in a lot of European cities now. The next thing they car manufacturers are promising is electric... and so the cycle continues. As @ScottsBad rightfully pointed out about the Bloomberg article "that breaks down the energy and environmental costs of a Tesla vs. a SUV over the lifetime of the vehicle. Guess which one won."

    Some stuff
    This.

I read an article recently about the carbon footprint to produce a single Tesla. It took into account all the factory workers and thier commute to the plant. End result wasn’t good.

A few years ago, there was an article about Honda’s Prius equivalent. Drawing a blank on the name. Finale assembly was in Japan but the battery and other components came from all over, by boat. Then the car gets built, put back on a boat an shipped back here. The output of the cargo ships completely negated any emissions gains from the vehicle.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for cleaning up the environment and trying to reverse the destruction of the parasitic human species but, there are other answers.

Agreed. Seems like all the manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon to be seen as doing something. That car you speak of is the Honda Insight
