Trd swaybar install ?

Just curious on installing the trd sway bar, will I need power tools to remove the bolt on the side behind the rear wheels or am I able to unbolt with just a breaker bar? YouTube videos say it makes it easier with a power tool and I’m not really trying to strip the bolt, thanks

 

I didn't use power tools, the breaker bar worked fine for everything and it's an easy install.

 

I didn't use any power tools when I installed mine. However, that bolt that you have to remove that holds on the hitch is torqued TIGHT! I had to use a breaker bar.

 

I did it without air/power tools... I was at a friends house, and he aint got jack for tools.

Breaker bar and a dead blow hammer.

 

Breaker bar should be more than enough on your 18.....hasn’t been together for very long! Mine came off easily during my install.

I followed that video too. And no power tools, breaker bar worked fine.

Just got done with an install this weekend. Definitely need a breaker bar. Turned out great. Funny thing is I ended up having 3 washers left instead of 4 like in the video. Not sure what happened to the 4th washer. Anyhow the truck handles the turns a lot better. Most noticeable on long sweeping turns like exit ramps etc.

 

Make sure you re torque after 500 miles

I used a long ratchet, a torque wrench, and a 7-year-old. You'll be fine.

 

yes it was well the effort to add, i see post that people say they don't feel the difference is insane, it really feels more planted for sure.

Took less than a hour to do this morning on a 17 DC. 1/2 breaker bar was used but a 1/2 ratchet would have worked. Absolutely nothing was rusted or seized. Took longer to walk back and forth in the garage for tools than it did to install. Seems like it tightened up the rear end or my mind is saying it did to validate spending the $$$$$

 

My truck came with one already so I never noticed a difference? I noticed all Ram trucks come standard with one? Merry Christmas. D

 

had you replaced the rear shocks? Im running 6112s bilsteins on the front but have stock on the back. Will i notice a difference?

 

I running all billstein shocks and sway bar and the body roll is what goes away when making turns and just stabilizes struck overall

My billstein shocks and sway bar and also 8 inch ba muffler were all just installed about 8 months ago and very happy with outcome

Just installed my rear TRD sway bar yesterday. Very straightforward and definitely tightened up the handling. Still have a little bed bounce but better. Once current set of tires are worn out going to go with Bilsteins all the way around. Will opt for the `1.35" front level and with the sway bar and a bed full of firewood hope that she wont be too nose high.

Was able to use impact gun with some extensions and get frame bolt out and in through the wheel well.

 

been a while but as I recall I did get some use out of my cordless 3/8 impact. those things don't put out THAT much torque.

 

I just used the trustee old breaker bar and a torque wrench. I like spinning wrenches sometimes. Something euphoric about it. Plus a free bicep workout!
