Bak x2 cover too far forward?

I had a Bak x2 cover just installed and it looks like it's a 1/2 inch too far forward. The flap in the front sticks out instead of laying on the front edge of the bed. If you have one installed, does yours line up like mine or is it further back over the tailgate?

Will it shove back anymore? I originally had my F1 to far towards the rear. I just kept moving it back and forth until it looked best at the tailgate. Even then the front looks like it is a little to far towards the cab. Not as much as yours does in that pic though.

 

i would pull it a little more to the tailgate.. maybe by a 1/4".

 

Mines pretty close to that maybe a 1/4” farther back but not much at all

 

Thanks for the quick responses. I'd like a little more water resistence/coverage over the tailgate. I'm gonna try to slide it back tonight if it'll move.

 

Ya I tried sliding mine back for that reason. It didn’t help, there’s such a big gap all around where the tailgate closes it’s almost impossible to keep the heavy rain or car wash water out of it unless you pack it full of weatherstripping

 

It hasn't rained here since install but I'm interested to see how much rain water will make it in that little gap. Did you pack yours with weatherstripping?

I had a little bit of the roll left I just tried piecing it in there. I’ll try and get a pic tomorrow. It’s dark and snowing like crazy here right now.

 

To position it correctly, loosen the bolts at the front and with the tailgate down, pull the cover back until you have a 1/4" or so of the cover overhanging the rails. With the bolts loose and the cover latched, gently close your tailgate. What you want is for the tailgate to contact the bulb seal that runs across the inside rear edge of the cover. I usually lay inside and have a coworker close the tailgate and with a flashlight I make sure that there's contact, I have the coworker make sure the cover is square and with someone holding the front corners down, I tighten the nuts.

 

Here’s some pics that’s the tailgate gap I was talking about. That’s about the only spot the water comes in. Nothing in the front of the bed.

 

Thanks for the pictures guys. Everybody also recommends the Pop and Lock for added security. Not sure how this helps but I'll give it a try.
