Upgrade without changing head unit....

What are some of the basic speaker upgrades to do without getting into the head unit....just wondering if upgrading speakers would be worth it?

 

Factory Head Unit -> Sound Processor -> Amp -> Door Speakers.
Thats what you need. Not going to get much out of just replacing the door speakers by themselves.

 

I have 0 audio experience....is this something I can do or am I going to need to go to an audio place?

 

Its not very difficult.

Just search around here and read about some people audio builds (there's a link to mine in my signature).

 

The head unit is the weakest part of the Tundra audio. Once you replace that your speakers will come alive. When I did mine, volume setting 45 on the stock was like setting 10 on the new one. Louder, clearer, and better!

 

Stock speakers are a joke. They may sound good until you put some quality speakers in. That's when you know how poor the stock speakers are. If you are going to put an amp in you might as well go all the way and spend a few extra bucks to do the job right - get some quality speakers!
