Just purchased my first Tundra after having a silverado the last 10 years. 2018 SR5 Tundra TRD Off-Road 4x4 Double Cab. :oldglory:

My question is about the off road suspension that comes on the SR5 trim of my truck. Im new and have searched on these forums for questions about the suspension and how it works when it comes to leveling the truck but cant seem to find the answer im looking for.

Is the Bilstein 5100 the suspension that comes on the truck? if so... is this the adjustable height shock that can level the truck? if not is it worth just going with the TRD pro suspension instead of upgrading to the next level of bilsteins?

I don't believe the 5100s come on any new Tundra, what color are your shocks?

Zero one Actual is correct, you have 4600s. I put the 5100s on my truck and love them, they leveled out the front and are a great upgrade for a fraction of the cost of the TRD PRO. All depends on what you want out of your truck

Thank you for the quick response. I definitely have the opportunity to do some heavy off-roading since I live in the So-cal desert(near mexico border) so im going to upgrade the suspension for sure. The price difference in the Bilstein 5100 and the TRD Pro is a big jump, is it fair to say the same for the quality? also how does the warranty work for upgrading the suspension...are the bilstein 5100s covered?

I went with bilstein 6112’s up front and 5160’s rear. A little stiffer ride than stock TRD 4600’s however they soak up big hits great. Great for desert and tore up agricultural community roads.

I am sure the stock shocks are covered under the 3/36 but once you change them, the shock has its own warranty for manufacture defects and the labor is on you. Uncommon for a shock to have a issue though. I had the dealer install the 5100s on my truck and the alignment, which is covered for a period of time. they also will cover the install if they goofed it up.

Honestly, for the price of the TRD PRO suspension you could have a full King setup all the way around. And my understanding is so long as you’re not cutting crossmembers and such like you would for a 6-7” lift, the warranty will stay intact.

Lived there a long time. In Yuma now. I got my truck at Rogers and Rogers. Had them do the install in front. They said it was the first ones they’d seen for tundra and seemed to like them, asked a bunch of questions about them. The front end is still warrentied but not the coil overs themselves. They are rebuildable but you have to send em back to bilstein. They’re located in n county in SD.
As far as performance they’re great, superstition, buttercup, glamis, s-2. They’re great. When you come up on something pretty quick and get ready for a big hit.... they soak it up.

Rodgers and Rodgers as well! How did the 6112's fair on the roads over here? Awesome that you know exactly where im going to go out lol. I've found the 6112's and 5160 rear as a kit online for around $1100 looks like im going to pull the trigger.

That’s pretty good for the set. The rears are too easy to pay someone for install. Dealership did a good install job. Took about 2 1/2 hrs total, alignment included.
You’ll like them. Roads are pretty much same out here in Yuma.
