Nitto or Toyo?

Nitto Ridge Grapplers or Toyo RT?

 

You can't go wrong with either. I like the look of Nitto RG more though.

 

Both good tires. I agree the look of the nitto's is a little better than the toyo. Had the Toyo and they perform well on the old truck

 

Toyo owns Nitto so win win either way. I'm a nitto guy from way back with the Terras but should have gotten the Ridge for a more aggressive mall crawler look. Next time....

 

I thought you already had Ridge Grappler 35’s?

 

Are the RGs coming with a 50k warranty now like the Toyos? Also look at the weight of the RGs compared to the Toyos.

Both great and perform well. To me it would come down to size and weight. With that being said my next tire will be the ridge grappler

I have Toyo open country II, have put somewhere between 7000 & 10000 miles on them and they have barely worn. They performed well when I visited moab this summer and did some light wheeling. I haven't had them in snow yet though.

 

same compounds, virtually same tires (I use to work for both). Big difference is Toyo's treads are generally designed to perform, while Nitto's treads are generally designed to look good.

Depends on what's important to you. Looks are subjective but I think the Ridge Grapplers look a little better. The RG's are a little lighter (58.5lbs vs 61lbs for the R/T in 275/70R18s)

According to each site's own ratings, the RG's have better dry and wet handling ratings (4.5 vs 4.0 for the R/T's) Same ride comfort (3.5). RG's are quieter (4.5 vs 4.0) but the R/T's do have a much better off road rating 4.5 vs 3.5.

So basically for a daily driver/mall crawler, the RG's seem to be the way to go but if you do a fair amount of off-roading, the R/T's may be the better choice?

 

Nitto Exo Grappler came out at about the same time Toyo RT came out. I would think they are comparable. Exo Grappler was a later addition. I have Trail Grappler and I like it, but Ridge Grappler looks enticing.

 

I have 35" x 12.5" toyo r/t. They are great. Off-road and on road. Super stable.

 

I have the Nitto's....They ride great and and very quiet on paved surfaces.
