UPDATE: Investigation has revealed MC operator was at fault. Unfortunately, both the operator and the passenger of the motorcycle have died, one on scene and the other at a local hospital. Both of the deceased individuals were adult males.

I used to ride on the street all the time before having kids once I had kids that was it. My brother still rides probably 10,000 miles a year on a motorcycle worry about him all the time. Even though most times it's not the motorcycle rider it's the other people blnot paying attention.

So sad, it's going to be a solemn Christmas for a couple of families.

I had a bike until my wife was pregnant with our younger daughter. Our car was on its last legs and I traded the bike for a better one. After that, when I mentioned getting another bike, my wife simply said no. No emotion, no arguing, just a flat no. Now that bouts of sudden vertigo have started, I have to agree, my days on two wheels are over.

My wife said she would leave me if I ever got a motorcycle. Always been curious as I have never even been on one.

I don't currently have a motorcycle but i want another one. I've owned 2. Sold my last one because there was no way i was going to be able to take care of 2 young kids and still have any time to ride.

Ordered a gun safe on black Friday.....It said it was 200 lbs online. It showed up today and was not 200 lbs.

Now I need to fill it more! Two pistols and 3 rifles are lonely! Thats a king size bed for size reference.

that's bad news. glad it wasn't you that was involved. put it on the track or put it in the dirt.

a few years back, we were involved in a head on with a bike in boulder canyon. we were going uphill, rider was coming down. he crossed a double yellow to pass on the inside of a corner. we were in the FJ and didn't have anywhere to go. he realized it too late and tried to slide back into traffic. he misjudged his speed, slammed into the car in front of him and got launched.

the bike, a big harley, went cartwheeling down the road missing us by only a couple of feet. he wasn't as lucky and went head first under the FJ. no helmet. one of his boots had been yanked off and was standing upright on the yellow lines.

i had the truck stopped and was running down the middle of the road with the med kit before bec even realized what had happened. there wasn't any cell service so i yelled at her to call a mayday on the ham. one of those situations where the ham radio is worth its weight in gold.

boulder sheriffs were the first to show up but for whatever reason, my kit was more complete than theirs. performed cpr with a couple of other bystanders for over 20 min before the medics and fire fighters arrived. by then, he had already gone grey.

canyon was closed for hours in both directions. we were stuck there until the coroner showed up. fire fighters, sheriffs and troopers were great. thankfully, there was no damage to the FJ so they didn't impound it. if we had been a bit further up the road, or in a stock truck, he would have come through the windshield or the bike would have landed on us or both.

i still have my license but have ridden a motorcycle since that night. not sure if i ever will. it's still a vivid memory.

    thanks.

it wasn't the first time i had a situation but the past ones had all involved large surf or deep water and, none had a dead guy. almost dead but never dead dead and never anyone that broken. that definitely threw me for a handful of seconds. that's a sensation i'd rather not experience again.

but, i'd say i'm just a little bit stronger because of it. reinforced a few things that i already knew about myself and it forced me into a massive med kit overhaul. speaking of which, it's time for some replacements of expired items...

What sucks is that there doesn't even need to be stupidity involved for a bike to go down. I've witnessed 3 motorcycle accidents....

    1. The rider had a diabetic seizure and hit the curb of the island. Was launched from his bike with no helmet, just riding goggles. Whole left side of his face was caved in & multiple broken bones in his body. Bike want totaled but needed some work. It was my second day riding a bike in my life. I witnessed the whole thing from beginning to end. Stopped to help...ended up working with an of duty cop and his wife (RN) doing CPR and stabilizing him until paramedics showed up. I can still remeber it like it was yesterday. I didn't sleep for almost a month after it and had to talk to someone. Paramedics said he probably wouldn't make it. I called the hosptial he was taken to and left my contact info. The gentleman's son in law called me and set up a day i could come see him. He survived, but had to have many surgeries. I visited him until he was released. I lost touch with him after that.

    2. Getting on the freeway, a car clipped the front tire of a motorcycle. Rider went down. I stopped to assist him. He was pinned under his harley and not breathing. There were idiots that stopped and got out of their vehicles, but they all sat there staring. I had to grab someone and make them help me lift the bike off the rider and help with CPR. I don't know if he lived. No helmet or any protective gear and was pretty bad.

    3. Good friend of mine fractured his spine when a trash truck clipped his back tire and he went flying. He was ok other than that. He was wearing full gear. He wasnt paralyzed but had to do a lot of PT. He's a LEO.

I still rode after the first accident i witnessed and would still be riding if i had a bike. My sister, her hubby, ex brother in law, ex mother in law, mom, and stepdad all ride. Every single one of them wears protective gear and are as safe as they can be.

I need y'alls help. For the life of me, I can't figure out what to get my 15 & 12yo nephews for Christmas. I can shop for girls and little boys (ie my 3yo nephew) but these 2 have me stumped. When i ask what they want the answer I get is "I don't know". Very aggravating.

WHAT THE HELL DO TEENAGE BOYS WANT???
