Need some tire and wheel advice, help, clueless newb...

I have a 2016 white platinum edition.

I have ordered a lift kit;

ToyTec 3" Ultimate Lift Kit with Bilstein Shocks, 5100. 1" Block Kit

This was ordered on the suggestion of my moto mechanic and friend.

He isn't really hip though on the wheels I've ordered. He says they will stick out a fair amount.

I've ordered these. They are 20x9 with a -12mm offset. 5x150 BS:453, Bore 110.20

Just how far will that stick out? Anyone have a way of photo illustrating for me? I don't mind a wider stance but I also don't want silly/stupid looking. Suggestions on tires appreciated, and I hear that I'd need to be careful choosing due to potential fitment/rubbing issues?

They will stick out a fair amount....As the stock wheels are a +60 offset. Any rubbing issues will depend on how wide of a tire you go with....275 vs. 295 vs. 305 and also sidewall.....60 vs. 65 vs. 70.....I'm sure the wheel/tire experts on here will chime in with suggestions!

 

I had some street truck wheels on a p/u many years ago and really liked the look. So, I thought that CenterLine not being stupid, probably haven't made these stick out so much as to look nonsensical. If the tires and wheels stick out a bit, I'm thinking that fender flares will balance things out.

Sounds like picking the right kind of tire and the right size is very important. And I guess I'm at a loss where to look or figure that out.

Having a reference picture to the width would be nice, so if anyone has a picture with that kind of net width, much appreciated.

It's basically going to stick out 2.83" more than your stock wheels. Might not look too bad but with a 3" lift and that offset, you're going to have major rubbing problems with any decent sized tire.

 

Thanks. If you had to guess, what would be the max tire size?

 

I'm sorry, I have no idea. I'm not sure I've ever seen a negative offset on a 3" lift. I really would not suggest even trying it if you can return the wheels or exchange them?

 

Perhaps I shouldn't lift the truck?

 

To use those wheels? No, like @GNTundra just said, you have to lift higher to be able to use that offset.

Go to customoffsets.com you can see every type of offset -12 ,0 -24 -6 or positive and ou can see them on actual tundras that are lifted 0-8 inches

 

Offset of +12 to 0 would probably look bad ass..

Ok, so back to the drawing board on buying wheels. This time I'll try to get it done right, and welcome any help.

I'm looking for polished aluminum wheels that are sporty, not interested in Black wheels....everyone has black wheels...

 

Customoffset is the way to go for looking for whe brands, finish and offset.. good luck

 

Fuel makes some good wheels.....and I believe most of their offsets are in the +20 range...My Tundra has Nitto Ridge Grapplers 275/70/18's on a +20 Fuel Octane wheel for reference. They stick out a bit but are no means in the monster truck range! I have a 3 inch lift as well.

 

Phew... that was close. I’m assuming you’re still going with the 3” lift. If you want to stuff Big tires (34-35”) with a moderate poke, stay in the +35 to +18 offset range. If you want a really aggressive stance and are willing to sacrifice some tires size, go with a 0 to +12 offset. Personally, I think +18 to +25 is the Best offset for our trucks.

 

Be careful with the polished aluminum choice..

All of that calcium chloride / amongst other chem. In the mix they put on our roads here in Washington to keep ice off

That shit will eat thru the thin protective coating on wheels then pit the aluminum... not deep but like swiss cheese

Depending on the tire and suspensions combo, +12 seems like it’s becoming more of a common offset with minimal rubbing issues as well.

Ok, so I did my homework and found something I really like. A fellow tundra forum person...no longer posting, but all the details are available. Love the wide stance, a wider tire instead of taller.

What you think? It is similarly on a 3 inch lift.

One silly question.... Raised white lettering on these tires, or some tire, would compliment the white of the truck. Do people paint the lettering themselves or are they painted. Kind of old school yeah, but I've always like the look.

In the last pic, fender flares were added. Not sure if I prefer with flares or not?

height will be roughly 1 inch taller than stock...right around 33....should be good with a 3 inch lift....but I'm sure the more knowledgeable tire/wheel guru's will chime in! What is the offset of those wheels? Good looking stance for sure!

 

Looks good. What's the offset? White lettering depends on the tires. I wouldn't paint them myself though. Some tires costs extra for the white, some are standard, and some have white on one side and black on the other... you can choose when you mount them.

 

It appears you can choose a zero or +12mm offset. I want mine to stick out a bit like that pictured, that is exactly the look I want. Any idea of whether that is the zero or 12?
