So I was under my truck yesterday and noticed a small amount of oil building up on the base of my transmission bell housing. I suspected a rear main seal, and sure enough after taking it into the dealership today they agreed and said that it was the rear main seal. I have to take it back Monday and drop it off for them to remove the transmission and replace the seal. I wanted to post this not to complain because I love my truck and wouldn't trade it for anything, but instead wanted to see if this is a common issue or if anyone else has had this problem and if so how it has been since repaired. My truck is a 2014 1794 Edition with 6,400 miles on it, so obviously this isn't a normal wear and tear issue. Thank you in advance for the feedback!

Wow yea for a 2014 I would be pushing toward lemon law if this isn't the first major thing to happen.

Warranty....go get it reapaired and drive it for a few hundred thousand miles. :)
These issues should not come up, but they do, machines are not perfect, at least your under warranty. I am sure Toyota will make it right.
    Best of luck!

Yeah the dealer has been awesome handling this for me and has kept me informed. The only thing that is laughable is I went from a crewmax tundra to a crew can Tacoma. I feel like I'm in a power wheels.

Well the short story version is the rear main deal was not the problem. They then looked to the crankcase sensor, replaced it, and it is still leaking. Today a field engineer checked it and found that apparently an oil galley is leaking and if that is the case I will be getting a new short block for my truck with all new internals. So still sucks to not have my truck but they are definitely diligent at getting it figured out.

Oh wow worse than you thought. I would push for a new truck rather than a new engine swap.

Man... If you don't get a different truck, you sure better get a platinum warranty for free. Seriously, they will give you this if you push for it. I think I'd be pushing for an unmolested truck... Or at least a supercharger and non flex equipment... Damn you've been thru the ringer

Well I love my truck and for now I am having faith in the dealerships ability to handle the problem. My theory is basically if I get the truck back and it starts having issues again then the discussion needs to happen about possibly swapping the truck out. Only time will tell, I'm suppose to find out a definitive "what's going to happen" today.

Push for a free plat warranty or rig.
This is a $45k+ truck that is BRAND new. They need to make it right somehow.

OK so verdict is in and truck is repaired. Turns out oil pan was damaged at assembly and because of that wasn't sealed properly so they replaced that and also replaced the rear main seal and crankshaft seal because they had been removed during diagnosis.

That's better than expected. Oil pan leaks aren't bad, unless you run the engine with little to no oil because of the leak Sucks they had to open it all up for just an oil pan leak though. Really should have been the first thing they looked at.

Yeah you would have thought that would have stuck out a little, but I would rather it be fixed than go unnoticed. Hopefully that's it and the issues are over. Definitely happy to have my truck back.
