That's crazy to have so much wrong with new equipment. Hope you get it all right and installed soon. Let us know how the sub sounds in that box too.

Under?! Man... I think you might be able to fit something, but not hardly anything there. My amps barely fit. Plus you won't be able to put your seats down.

I know, what an ordeal huh... The rears I just got in tonight and just by themselves they are 10 times better than the stock system!

I haven't looked at it very hard but thought there was room. Didn't know it would affect putting the seats down. Haven't even tried that feature yet.

Yeah buddy. There is a bar under there too. When you fold the seats down, there is about two inches of room. And even if you decided not to worry about that, the bar would be in your way. The space in the crewmax is pretty tricky. I'm hoping ill only lose one click in the seats. Or two at the most.

Does your rear window roll down? Wondering if there is less room behind the seat than one that doesn't roll down.

If yours doesn't, I'm 99% sure it's set up to. Wired and either has the motor or ready for it to be set in there. You would just have to pull the panel of and look. The wires in the tundra ar already ran for anything you want to install... Factory sub, seat heaters, power mirrors... The wires are already there and so are the harnesses. A lot of people don't have the little info strip of buttons on there dash... All you have to do is plug one in. The wires and harness is there.

Sliding? Wow I didn't even know the crew max came that way. Is it power? I would be very curious to see what is behind that back panel.

Oh never mind, I re read your post. For us you might have an inch if you took the panel off.

Well, im a glutton for punishment... I am going to give the ID 6x9s one more chance. I ordered them today. If they mess up or I don't like them within 60 days, I can return them and at that point ill go with the alpine's. Cant wait to get them and the sub in and be done with it!!!

    S*** just got real...

Used heavy duty Velcro to stick to the back wall when I lower or move the seat. Used foam under the box because the box edge was going to sit on my 1/0 gauge wire. Worked pretty well. I lost 2 clicks but still a ton room in the back seat. And If I ever need to take it out, no problem.
This 12 handles 400 rms and 1500 peak but the Orion amp I've got is 300 rms. It hits very hard, so I turned off the bass boost on the amp so I could listen to all kinds of music. Sounds perfect. So the last thing I'm waiting on is my 6x9s to get here. Giving the image dynamics one more try...

I got to looking at the seats last night after I put the smaller one back in. That one has full travel, so I counted the clicks lost. I didnt lose 2, I lost 4! That's a little more than I wanted to lose. Not sure if I could make an even flatter box or if I should go down to a 10 inch sub. Or maybe ill just let this ride for a while. There is still a ton of room, but I don't know.

Good gravy... I'm almost embarrassed to post this... But the one of three speakers I got back from being bad so far, is making some other sound I think from the tweeter. I almost just left it alone, but called today to have it replaced. So at this point, I'm not really recommending ID. The one good 6.5 is perfect, but jeeze... I'm supposed to have the other 6x9s delivered by Thursday, so if you guys wouldn't mind just saying a prayer for me or sending good vibes my way or whatever you do, I would appreciate it!! Anyway, I hate that this thread turned into a saga... But at least you guys will save yourselves the trouble and just go get some slim mount alpine's for the doors.

Well I got the new ID 6x9s yesterday and I'm glad I gave them another chance. They sound great. Before I put them in today, I used the rest of the raamaudio sound deadener for the front doors. What an amazing difference having that done makes. So I am only waiting for one rear 6.5 to be sent back and installing the bass knob tomorrow and ill be done with this project. Really happy with the sound.

Thanks man. Its growing on me. Helps that I really sounds good. I started getting the stuff for the upgrade last November... almost done! My neighbor across the street has a little Chevy Colorado. He said I inspired him to upgrade his system. He bought a new stereo, 4 speakers, a sub and amp. It took 2 hours and he was done... grrrrrr... :)

Added this today. Had to trim inside a bit, but over all it fit nicely with the light. I do think I'm going to find an amber light to match the dash. I also changed where I grounded my system today. I used a single 3/8 bolt thru the floor under the hard foam beneath the carpet. Both amps grounded to that point. I was getting a slight static from the factory ground points. It seams to have cleared up, but I'm half deaf today from re-tweaking the gains on the amp.

Well, I took the lc7i out and returned it. every which way i tried to tune it and the amp together, i got white noise. the noise never got louder with the radio, but when the volume was low you could hear it easily. also, all four tweeters made a sound like a slight crinkle of plastic wrap when certain frequencies would play, usually on a higher pitch voice. anyway, i figured with all the work i put into it, i couldn't accept it not being perfect. I spoke with several shops and spent hours online researching and found that the lc7i was magnifying the stock head units dirty signal. Im not sure how the premium radio for the tundras are, but the non-jbl radio is not something you want to leave in your truck if you plan on amplifying new speakers, other than a sub maybe. so... if you ask me what the best or first thing to change in a sound system is, i would tell you the head unit.

the one i bought is on the way to me and it had everything on my list that i wanted. I didn't need or want navigation, i wanted a simple interface and one that you could customize the icons, something that wasnt ugly sitting in the dash, has 6 4 volt pre-amp outputs, Bluetooth, HD radio and that has an actual physical volume knob. i got a chance to test out the different units and my favorite and the one i ordered is this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DDX491H/Kenwood-Excelon-DDX491HD.html

of course, now the base knob you see in the picture above has been rendered useless now. It connected to the lc7i and my amps do not have a place for the base knob. Oh, the other thing about the radio is it has its own subwoofer control, crossovers and highpass filters.

I guess Ill be looking for a button to replace that one!

I was so irritated over this, I couldn't bring myself to post it... But the radio I got from crutchfield was defective! I swear I've had the worst luck on this install. But a new one is on the way, everything is wired up with the idatalink steering wheel control and ready for the good head unit on the way. I'm pretty ready to be done with this, but wow, have I learned so much about sound systems and how to install them. I guess there is always a positive if you look for it. Not to mention, it will be bad ass when it's all done.

The other thing I'm doing with it is installing a front facing camera. That should be pretty cool too. It's all wired for the camera, but ill have to do it once this welding class I'm taking is over.

And months later, ton of install and audio problems solved... I now have a full system upgrade. Zero floor noise or alternator whine. And a ton of clean power to the speakers and sub. I wired the head unit so I could add a front camera and mobile tv tuner for later. The kenwood head unit is really nice. Done for a while!
