    Edited due to error.
My 2012 CM TRD has been developing a squeak. This squeak seems to be located within the rack and pinion rather than bushing related. With my old lady turning lock to lock while I’m under the front end, the squeak is most apparent when the wheels are nearly straight forward, not turned at higher angles. I hear the squeak when driving slower speeds and windows down, but it does subside when I’m turning. As my wheels straighten out the noise returns. I also hear it going over bumps or depressions.

I believe the noise is caused as the tie-rod shaft moves in and out of the seal on the rack body. Boots are still in good shape and no leaking fluids from the rack. I have also lubed all bushings with silicone spray, which didn’t solve this problem.

Anyone in Tundraland have to repair/replace front drive axles due to squeaking? Other suggestions?

Note: I have installed Bilstein 5100s for level 16 months ago.

Grease all zerks in drive line? Steering stops? Brake shoes glazing or wearing out? Any joints going out or rubber boots torn?

Dude... slightly embarrassed and ashamed by my mistake. Not in the drive line as a stated in the initial post.

Steering. The sounds seems to come for the tie rod, so I assume it’s actually coming from the rack.

    Thoughts?

Looked at it yesterday in the dark and posted this afternoon.... embarressing to confuse these two parts.

Anyone had experiences with the Rack making a squeaking noise without failing? Truck acts and drives great other that the noise. Im not convinced its a Rack failure, and i may poke a small hole in the boot and spray silicone lube in there.... puzzled.

Thanks for the lead. I contacted him and his problem was a complete failure. My issues are purely noise at this point.
