I need to be convinced to move over to LEDs. I currently run a pair of LightForce which I've converted over to HID. They are hella bright (no pun intended), but of course the light scatter is horrible, and the warmup time is a negative as well.

LEDs started out as a novelty and got somewhat of a bad rep early on. So has the technology improved to the point where these things are serious? How do they compare to HIDs?

I do mostly highway driving with the occasional dirt trails. What beam pattern should I be looking for? I see you have so-called "combo" lights. In the case of 4 LEDs, does this mean 2 are spots and two are floods? Can the two modes be controlled individually?

As you can tell from my questions, I am quite the newby, but would welcome any kind attempts at education.

LED Lights have come a LONG way and in many ways outshine HID's. Our LED Lights offer less power draw, no warm up time, and best of all more Output!
You will find our XL Pro, XL Racer, and XL80 offer more output than our 8" La Paz HID in less than half the size! These are some of the great features our LED Lights offer!

Take a look at our full product line:
    www.bajadesigns.com

Satisfactions Guarantee – 30 Day Money BackGuarantee
Limited Lifetime Warranty – Complete Purchase Protection
uService® – Replaceable Lenses And Optics
ClearView® – All The Light, Right Where You Need It.
MoistureBlock™ – Waterproof, Rain Proof, Submersible
    CopperDrive® – Only LED Driven At 100%
5000K Daylight – Less Driver Fatigue, Natural Color

I would recommend our Driving/Combo pattern! For our OnX6 and XL Series Lights, The Driving/Combo pattern is equipped with both Wide Driving (44°) and spot (6°) optics to provide you with a smooth blend of light for both near field applications and distance. The Spot and Wide cannot be controlled individually. If you decide you want a full wide or full spot it is NOT a problem! Our U-Service technology allows you to easily change patterns in a matter of minutes. You are not stuck with the pattern you buy!

Questions are always welcome! Happy to help!

    Thank You,
    Bailey, Baja Designs

Thanks Bailey. I was unaware that I could change the focus pattern after purchase. That makes the decision much easier. Thanks also for taking the time to answer my questions. Looks like I have a new project :)

That's awesome. If I do an LED bar this is where I will mount it. Perfect spot!

With the throw pattern on it, it pretty much appears middle of lights, but wide and long distance too.

Shown here are two of our XL Series lights - Starting at $199.95.

All of our lights feature a 5000k Color Temperature. Human eyes have evolved to see best at noon on a sunny day which translates to a color temperature of 5000⁰ Kelvin.
A color temperature of 5000K greatly reduces driver fatigue and increases terrain recognition. BD exclusively uses 5000K LEDs to ensure the safest and highest performing driving experience.

We use O-Ring seals while many companies use silicone or something similar.
Everything seals up just fine. Here is an example of our uService technology in action:
