    Hello,

I just purchased a 2010 CrewMax limited and I wanted to change all fluids for peace of mind. I tried searching through the manual but found the manual to be very generic so I am hoping that my fellow Tundra owners can help me out. I have the following question.

Which kind of OIL for Rear, front, and transfer case? I don't know how to determine if I have limited slip differential. I tried running my VIN# through bunch of websites and only one website indicated that I have "Automatic Limited Slip Differential".

Is the sticker under the hood reliable to finding out your engine#? According to the manual, the number is engraved onto the engine block but I tried looking everywhere and couldn't find it. According to the sticker under the hood my engine# is 3UR-FE.

Which filter is needed when changing OIL? I tried searching for OIL filters and was presented by the following option.

    8 Cylinder W 5.7L MFI FFV DOHC
    8 Cylinder Y 5.7L FI DOHC

I don't know how to identify which engine I have. All I know is that I have 5.7L V8.

Thank you so much for your help.

The FFV is the flex fuel designation but they all take the same oil filter. I don' recall the part number but I only use the Toyota filter. As far as the diffs and transfer case go, all 3 take 75W-90. I used Valvoline SynPower in mine. You'll need a washer kit for the diffs and trans case and you should also change the washer that's on the oil drain plug at each oil change. Your rear diff is an open diff unless the previous owner had a locker put in it. Toyotas version of limited slip is done thru the brake system, applying the brakes to shift power from one side to another. Hope that helps :)

Any time . The Toyota oil filter is 04152-YZZA4, the oil pan drain bolt gaskets are 90430-12031 and the diff/trans case gaskets are 90430-1001X3. Search the thread DIY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND TRANSFER CASE FLUID CHANGE. That thread will give you all of the fluid capacities, torque specs and instructions for doing it. A good hand pump helps but all in all its a pretty easy job, just a little time consuming.
