I am a huge Michelin tire fan.
I had the on my 2 previous 4-runners & have primacy’s on my wife’s Solara.

It’s time for new tires on my Tundra.

I will either go with defenders or AT’s.

Please give tell me your thoughts on AT’s and how many miles you have gotten.

I like mine. I am at 41,000 and will likely get another 10,000 out of them. I have been happy so far. Not a great off-road tire but it is smooth, quiet, wears reasonably well with age and does better off road than the LTX M/S. The M/S would be my first choice for a tire. They are better in nearly every way..... but they are just not up to the challenge off-pavement. I am planning to replace with another set. Anyone have some take-offs in the Michigan area?
I am open to suggestions for something new as well. I don't want loud and I don't want super stiff.

I have a set of LTX A/T I got as take offs from a fellow member here and I love them I went from standard bridgestones . The tread and width 265 to 285 and A/T dropped my mileage but for $400 I can buy alot go gas with the money I saved . I will get the M/S next time as I have a 4x2 and have a 4wheeler that will go anywhere ....

how are the AT's in the snow?
I don't do any serious off road stuff.. just go up logging roads to capture some views of our awesome mountains & trees.
I also love to drive in the snow & help pull out stranded folks.

How much mileage did you drop?

Mine came with Bridgestone's.. they had good traction for what I do.... just poor mileage.... 35,000 miles & almost gone.

Last winter we were plowing thru snow with those passed the bumper... never slipped once.

I stopped to helped out a guy in a stock ford 4x4 truck who was spinning his wheels in 6" of snow.
his problem was lack of tread on his tires. Got him turned around.

Very happy with my 285/60/20 Michelin Defenders in a 10 ply. Great quiet ride, handling. They wear and balance out great, just an overall excellent tire for my needs. Very little snow here in the BlueRidge foothills of NC. I run them at 40# of air and love the ride.

Here is a tirerack.com review link you can read until your eyes are bleary blood shot. Or if you need a sleep aid..
I agree with these 153 surveys. There are other reviews on this forum- search window above.

I like them a lot better than the BFG A/T's that I had on my Land Cruiser. Deep snow is not as good but hard pack and ice are much better. They do not hold a candle to the Bizzacks that I have on my wife's Oddy. Acceptable snow tire. Acceptable enough that I have not felt the need to purchase a dedicated snow tire.

dropped 1 - 1.5 MPG. Not much snow in Jackson MS to test them in , that I would not drive my truck with all the idiots that cant drive in the rain let alone snow ......

    Ha... copy that.
In Seattle if there is 1/2” of snow the city gets paralyzed due to all of the steep hills & no one prepares for it.

I typically take the 1st day off when it snows .. then its ok.

All of the idiots get taken out on the 1st day.. & everyone else is to scared of being standed from their long drive the day before & stays home.

    LOL

I just need 20" Michelin tires as a summer tire and don't see rain too offer.
Costco and Sam's both have good prices on tires.

    @Patriot,
Thank You for you tirerack link...
after reading multiple mixed reviews and the post from @SCpringel about his fuel economy drop on the AT's I went with the Defenders...

    had them installed yesterday.

Love Them... hoping to see if I can get 100,000 miles + like I did on my 4-runner with LTX MS/2's

friends helping friends ... great forum

As much as I want to get rid of these tires they do work well in the snow. Christmas morning we had almost two feet of snow on our driveway and these Michelins plowed right through it. I really want to find an excuse to get new tires but I can't. Next year.
