Hey! It's been 10 years since i put together a car stereo. (Sounds like Catholic Church confession)

    New truck- Double cab

Researched sub location options and my old sub box with 10" JL will sit behind the passenger seat on floor. (No kids-no traffic back there. If needed i unplug and toss in garage)

    Keeping head unit.

Warhorse amp is staying. Rockford Fosgate P1000X-4D. I'm thinking that should provide ample power.

I've used ********* cute lil speaker holders before in Tacoma. Will order accordingly for Tundra unless better idea comes.

Last 10 years...Had Alpine 6x9 and 6.5 in Tacoma. Not bad. Had to turn down amp a lot though.

I like music clean, ability to play loud and clean. Components? 6.5? 6x9?

Lots has changed in 10 years I am assuming. Budget? $800-1000 will get it done? (More if I overcome TRD Pro grille desire syndrome)

    Any input is welcome!!

    Thanks in advance.

Watch out with *********. You may order one set of speakers but they send you different ones and claim they are the same speaker. Old bait and switch.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    NoMo!

    Check these pics!
Kept the factory head unit but changed stock speakers out to Alpine which also swapped out factory amp for Alpine amp than added Pioneer amp and 10” sub in cargo box. All under a grand installed by Best Buy tech.

Feel free to ask any questions

    NoMo,

I went with the Pioneer sub because it was thin enough to fit in the cargo box. The 10” sub thumps and the Alpine speakers are clear at high volume no distortion. Plus I can crank the bass through the factory head unit if I want. Went with Best Buy cause the warranty is nationwide and removal is free.

Best Buy sells the box or you can find it cheaper and they will price match. I found the amp and sub on Amazon. I also went to the Pioneer website. That’s what was great about Best Buy. It helped to keep the price under a grand installed!

How deep is the sub? Will take ride thru to see boxes they have.

I had Alpine previously in Tacoma and i could run amp over say 30%-40% before speakers didn’t like the power. For the life of me i can’t remember the model #. Type R does ring a bell though. (6x9 3-way in front doors)

Wonder if sonic electronics keeps history of purchases that far back? Hmmm

I chose the Pioneer sub box because it’s super thin. You can check the Pioneer website for dimensions. They make an 8” Box and a 12” Box but I do know the one I have fits with or without the Toyota cargo box.

I had the same set up in my 2008 Tundra without the cargo box under the rear seat.
The pic I sent was to show you my set up but I lower the seat otherwise. Just want to make sure you know that.

Thinking JL ? Model 6.5” components in front and decent JL 6.5 in back (bridged to amp)

    Thoughts as to models?

Yes. I have the 10” JL sub in a box that will fit with mods to storage box. Cutting up 1/2 the storage is a mod right? Lol

Replaced the factory amp with a pioneer 2,000 watt digital amp, pioneer speaker's in all four doors of a 2017 DC. Two shallow 10" subs in storage box ( started behind the back seat). Sounds amazing and loud. Not earth shaking but will rattle rearview mirror if cranked. Kept the factory HU for now.

Second set of Pioneer speakers ( can't remember model number, about same as other set) 60$ 1 set. Ebay
Misc wiring, shrink tube, wire loom, fuze block and amp install kit, Sub box materials 75$. Where I could find it

Took 1/2 day to Install door speakers and matting for all four doors.
Next weekend took 1/2 dayish to install amp, subs and Kilmat the entire back wall and 1/2 the floor under the back seat.
Hardly any road noise. System might not be the greatest and I'm sure it could be tweaked to be better, but so much better than stock.

    Under 700$

Stock head unit. (Next year CarPlay unit)
    My amp n sub(listed above)

    Then...

Alpine R 6.5 components up front
Alpine R 6.5 coaxial in rear

Dynamat doors- backwall- maybe whole floor.

Try looking into the Kilmat for sound deadening. I like it a lot and works good. 65ish $ was enough to do all four doors and the entire back wall with about 8 sheets left over.

I’m not a fan of eBay. Got screwed on a Harley part and eBay did jack about it. Simply wont use eBay.
