so far Im liking it, leaning a few things on the way. one being to make sure you leave enough gap for over spary so you get a good peel off. excuse the socks and flipfops lol was in a hurry ;)

Thanks! My bumper end caps are plasti-dipped too. I don't do well with chrome at all, but I ordered some sample colors of vinyl wrap yesterday to see if I can color match them and get rid of the black.

cool deal, Im not liking the chrome look much myself. I think the black looks a lot better on the maroon.
If it all turns out the way im hoping then I will try to have the brush gaurd powder coated and plan on ordering some some wheels later down the road.

Soooo, if I understand you correctly, you intentionally left some space around your emblems?
This lets the over spray peel off easier?

Why not just remove them, spray, then reattach?

Eventually you will have to do touch up, and I wouldn't want to pull them off every time you have to.

The more I read about this plasti dipping, seems it looks great at first but doesn't hold up for very long. For bumper end caps and mirrors, I think wrapping would be way better and it last for years. Are there any other options for doing the badges? Or just plan on redoing them every year or more?

Vinyl wrap would definitely be better, but I have no complaints with plasta dip. I plasta dipped both bumpers, 7 coats each and have not done any touch up. If once or twice year is all I need to do, im good with that. At $6 a can it's all good. You could paint them as well. Give it a shot, if you don't like it, it peels off and your down $6,

My center caps on my wheels have been dipped for a year or so and still are perfect.

So what did you do about the over-spray in the middle of the letters.....like the D, the R and the A???

That seems like it would be a pain to get rid of.

it is a pain, but can be done just takes a little time. I used tooth picks but I also have a set of plastic tweezers that have a fine point on them im going to try next. IMG_20151008_100518537_zpsyosspvis.jpg

I was thinking about shoving a little piece of paper in between those particular letters???

Might be easier to fish out afterwards.

And it won't be as noticeable on my truck since it's already black.

Plasti-dipping is addicting. I think it's pretty easy to over do it. But then again, you could just peel it off, right?

Use a small paintbrush and carefully paint some Vaseline in those areas before using the Plasti dip. After it dries, wash it out with soap and water. Just don't get any on the chrome areas. It's actually easier to do then it sounds.
