how to tell if you have stock shackles? Does anyone have a measurement? I bought a 2016 platinum and it had wheels and tires already on it. Found out the other day that it has 5100 bilsteins front and back. Middle notch I believe.

Shit, Ive been in the tundra game for three years, didn't even know that LOL

Good deal. Chances are it's a very small shackle (if not stock). Billies on mid notch doesn't warrant anything done to the rear unless the owner before you wanted more of a rake.

I have a cousin with a rock warrior, he is wanting to level out the truck and was looking at bilsteins. He was asking what I have on mine and I got to crawling around under there and saw the shackles. Trying to figure out what exactly I have on it! So far the first owner has made good decisions!

I guess I’m confused, but if Tundras don’t have shackles, what the F... are these?

Well maybe my truck is the only one that came stock with shackles cause I’ve still got them (in my toolbox) and they were replaced with custom shackles I bought from coachbuilder.
@Sean266 do you really not know that our trucks come with shackles or are you just joking?

    Hey y’all, big surprise!
    THEY ALL DO!!!

As leaf springs cycle up and down, the distance between the eyes at each end must increase and decrease. Without shackles this distance would remain constant and the springs would not work.

Without shackles, your truck will not go very far. They hold the leaf springs toward the rear end. Some people replace strock shackles with beefier after-market ones (Coachbuilder, OME, Toytec, etc).

I just spit milk out of my nose.....and a lot of it

    Gino just said "SHICKLES"

Funny story here: a buddy of mine was climbing My Ranier a few years back and said he was dropping a Wendy's Frosty style muddy dump one day, when he noticed it took so long in the frigid air the excess formed "shit-cicles" that he had to break off.
This was the day that "shicles" became a household term around our crew.

Thanks, brother, for making me sniff milk for the next hour or so:cheers:
