BFG KO2 275/65/18 - anyone running these?

Anyone running BFG KO2 275/65/18? Before I get killed on here, I am well aware lots are running BFG KO2 275/70/18, but I am interested in anyone running the 65. Pics would also be awesome. Thanks!

 

Not that I am, but I see you're going back and forth between 275/70s and 275/65s. What's making you choose the latter? I ask because I'm in the same situation.

 

I am hearing and reading about the performance hit; the mpg hit; the potential transmission problems down the road; recalibration speedo and odo. How different do they look? While I want the extra inch of height, not sure it outweighs the negatives listed. I have not seen 65 in person or even in pics.

 

BFG specs show the 65 is only 2 lbs lighter. I ran the 275/70 BFG on my last F150 and definitely noticed the hit to MPG, but could not tell the hit to acceleration etc. But am curious to see what people say. I thought I saw somewhere the stock Michelins are only about 40 lbs!

 

What is on yours stock? Mine are 275/65/18's stock from the factory. Dueler HT's.

Good catch on the 2 lbs. For some reason I forget that same size tires dont necessarily weigh the same. I am less concerned with mpg, but am concerned with transmission issues later, and performance (I love the response and gitty up as it is - I came from a 2000 4Runner V6 sludgebox)

 

I run 275/70r18 bfg ko2s. 104k 54k of that was with the ko2s. I use my truck hard and I haven't had an issue. The truck does roll differently. I lost about 1 mpg. You can fit 70s on stock suspension no issues. I'm currently in the fence of going bigger or not.

 

Awesome to know. Thanks so much for the expertise. I know the toyota tranny is bulletproof so I am not really concerned. I do a lot of highway driving with the wife and kids on camping and other trips. I don't off-road as much as I want. The KO2s look dirty!

 

Going to an e load tire even at stock size adds significant weight. If I was saying stock size I'd for sure stay with the stock michelins. 41 lbs or so.

 

Any reason to flash some pictures! I've been running stock size KOs on both my Tundras...

Sick. Did you pc off-road wheels? If so Is that matte gray? I am dropping mine at pc today.

 

My wheels are just stock TRD Pro wheels and the other ones were stock TRD OR which I had just plasti dipped matte black.

 

Mine are getting pc matte black as we speak. Looks good. Any performance issues with your 275/65/18 BFG KO2s? How's handling, mph? Do they sit about .5 inch higher than stock?

 

Handling and mpg seem good to me. I'm not sure how much higher the tires themselves make the truck. My Pro sits higher than my TRD OR via suspension also.

I've never seen pics of 65 bfgs and they look just like my 70s lol.

 

There is little different as it's just a slightly higher tire. More rubber the 70s.

Running 285/65/R20. BFG AT/KO. Stock Platinum rim with minor trim on skid plate and removal of front mudflap. No lift. Trimmed piece of skid plate was about 1"x2".

Yes. Going with BFG KO2 275/65/18. 4 out of 5 (the 5th didn't have the size in stock so it was moot point) of the shops to whom I talked for estimates highly recommended sticking with the stock size if I did not want to adversely impact the stock characteristics of the truck (MPG, handling, braking, speedo, odometer, feel, transmission).

 

Krezz, would you mind telling me what plasti dip is and approximate cost?

 

Plastidip is a rubberized spray that goes on like spray paint but with 6 or 7 coats it will peel off.

With that said, it isn't very durable when it comes to being rubbed hard.

I plastidipped the wheels on my Tacoma with zero issues. I also did the wheels, bumper ends, and some badges of my Tundra (13k miles) with no issues. I plan to powdercoat my wheels now, as the dip was just to hold me over. I also plan to powdercoat my bumper ends when I get motivated enough to remove them.

It's not as smooth as paint or Powdercoat, it has some texture to it, and it has a matte finish, even with the "glossifier".

I still prefer to use 6-7 coats depending on the application, to help with the peeling off, should that time come when I need to remove it. Had little to no issue with having used it on 3 different vehicles of my own, and that of a couple friends also. Used on wheels, hoods, fenders, etc...
