Android Headunit

Never - looks like cheap Chinese electronics. No offense anyone.. but you get what you pay for. If I get a head unit, I’m sticking with a doubledin pioneer/alpine/kenwood with Apple CarPlay & android auto.

Hopefully a reputable company like Pioneer or Kenwood will make something similar. This looks like a $200 unit at best.

 

Can't get the video outputs to work. I tried video 1 and video 2 outs, switched cables. Can' get anything to show up on my headrest. Gone through the settings.

 

Spotify installed on my phone and radio. I started playing on my phone and it automatically detected the radio. So you can control with your phone and play on the radio.

 

Well it looks like you lost your boner. Glad to see you are still watching the thread even though it looks like a piece of cheap crap.. Strange you would waste your time and ours with complaining about something you don't plan on getting .

 

Got a reply from them, it' not supposed to work video outputs unless we connect a dvd or tv tuner to it then it plays on other screens. To me now, I'm back at square 1 where I started. I'm kind of pissed now, I was hoping to use directv and few other apps to play movies for my sons.

 

Who cares....its Awesome! Tons more functionality and features. Plus....you will be one of a couple hundred tundras that have this. I can' wait to get one...im just confused on how to make my phone a hotspot....

 

What kind of phone you got? I have s8+ , its under settings, connections, mobile hotspot tethering

 

I don't understand why it won't work. As long there out input/outputs, and a source is providing a video/audio feed, it should work. Is the signal not compatible? Maybe a converter might help.

 

You may want to ask this in the lighting section.

 

They said in order for it to work, somethi g has to be plugged into the video in, just a pass through to the video out

I still am going to install mine when it gets here. For me it is LOADS better than the factory unit.
That same unit that will not let me punch a number on the dial pad while driving.. Kind of hard to be on a call that requires 1 for English. 2 for Spanish....

 

Thanks, i feel same way, but i wanted it for the back seat passengers and it's not going to work the way I hoped.
The sound is 100s times better though. I was playing around with all the settings tonight and got it tweaked good.
I emailed them if I get the tv add on if it will play videos from a hard drive, then maybe.

Yeah....mine is an S8+ also. It' a corporate device so it won' let me turn it on for some reason.

 

Its probably locked down by the carrier..Its Verizon?

 

It can also depend on your mobile plan. We have AT&T and had the mobile hotspot until I upgraded to unlimited data. Then they took it away.

 

Mine was the opposite with AT&T, I had the unlimited but not hotspot. They had to change it.

 

With tmobile I can add an extra line so I plan on getting a mifi and just leave it in my truck..

 

With mobile I setup tethering once.. Then it would auto connect as long as I had tethering on..it was cool browsing the web on the dash..

 

I have ATT also....but it's paid for by my company, so I don't have much control over the plan they give me. So, at first ATT said you either have unlimited data and no hotspot....or a hotspot with only 5 gigs a month. WTH? 5 gigs? I use probably 30 on my phone. Luckily...I found out they have a Business+ account that offers unlimited and hotspot.

 

Too bad the ATT car connect unlimited deal isn't going on anymore. It was back in july and came with a zte mobley for $20/mo for unlimited data.

 

I had that problem with AT&T they said I had the wrong plan for hotspot, they changed it for me. Still all unlimited, maybe cause I have directv.

 

Is there gonna be another group buy?
