Since I asked for this forum to be created, I suppose I should at least write a descent trip report, for our Colorado trip

The initial plan would have been to visit the FJ cruisers Summit (8 out of 9 years running) , the go off to somewhere we have never been. Yellowstone National Park.
With a family member getting very sick about 1 month before our trip, we actually had to cancel Yellowstone, because of the uncertainty of the situation .
The event is amazing. nice people, plenty of Fj's and other Toyota's to gawk over and the most amazing scenery you would ever want to be in.
We left on Wednesday, the day before the official summit began. The trip was good, but we were in "go mode" to get there and get settled in. I pulled my travel trailer and burned lots of gas. Again we were in go mode. At one point I averaged 7.5 miles per gallon, but didn't care . The mountains were calling :)
Thursday we registered for the event, but since my Tundra wasn't lifted, I opted out of the standard trail runs.
We actually went off and did a simple but beautiful trail called Last Dollar Road
It winds up to over 10,000 ft elevation and is basically a scenic dirt road .
    Here are a few pics

This was an amazing view. I was as far up that little hill as I could be. Really

We were camped in a little park in town called the 4J's My Camper was almost overhanging the water in the stream. It was a fast moving stream, so the music off the water was awesome.

The next day we did some event stuff. Talked to some of the vendors we do business with and ate some food. Drank a few beers and just hung out

We actually got a chance to do a few trails with the AZFJ local group in AZ . Funny how we always get together 500 miles away from home, but it always seems difficult at home :)
We went back to Last Dollar rd , then went into Telluride for lunch at a place called the Brown Dog, for Pizza Highly recommend this place . On the way we spotted a few elk. like about 100 of them grazing in a field.

    IMG_2783_zps07dki3jv_420cf2326365bbbac45e3fc11c8fe9f0efca7c1c.jpg

Then we took a trail back over to Ouray called Ophir Pass
I have no pics, because I was busy keeping on the narrow shelf rd :)
Here is a pic or the drive back into Ouray near dusk . Just one of the tunnels you have to go through to get there

The weather kept us busy deciding what it was going to do, but I love it that way . It makes for excellent photo ops

Switchbacks in an FJ are no problem. With the Tundra, they were 3 point turns :)

Day 3 was more Summit events. Raffle dinner etc. I spent 500 bucks on raffle tickets, because it all goes to a bunch of great causes. I ended up winning a very nice impact wrench, but not 500 bucks nice . I really don't care . I always just consider it a donation anyway. The joke is always, that I win everything, but that isn't and wasn't the case. The event ends with all the 390 trucks taking over main street on Sunday morning at 6 am for an event photo. I will find a pic of this and post it . I just don't have one now
After the event we actually added a few days to our vacation, since the family illness thing had settled down. We ended up staying until Wednesday
Sunday and Monday we chilled out and just enjoyed the stormy weather. Tuesday we did an epic ride and trail. We decided to go to Crested Butte a few hours away. With some research we planned out a really cool loop trail from Blue Mesa Reservoir, to Crested Butte. It ended up being about 80 miles of all kinds of terrain
    Here are a few pics

We did lots of this in really bad rain and hail, but it was a hoot. I got a little nervous about the tight shelf roads and the muddy conditions, but I just took my time and took in the storms
    IMG_2867_zpshycthi2z_b320205a02d47038fab985611e14af38177375d4.jpg

    The trail already traveled
    IMG_2864_zpsfqbwaogd_e8fe9745f6b1493ab7296758bcb41f99ff4d1b91.jpg

This was so scenic and full of sound, I sat here and made a video with audio of the sound, so I could loop it for great sleeping
    IMG_2855_zpse615ncqq_114c59b64bbe94501a6acdae15a9e1d743d8c02d.jpg

This was in the middle of the loop we did. It was the entrance to the Devils Punch bowl , Just after Schofield Pass. This is suppose to be the most deadly trail in Colorado. 16 deaths due to narrow steep shelf roads with erosion.
We just took a picture of the signs, but didn't dare do the traile Especially alone
    IMG_2854_zpsxkniwe5z_f841810b0976abbb24f91c9c0be646d35ae648d3.jpg

FJ Cruisers were not all we saw at the event . This LS3 FJ 40 was just a sweet build
    IMG_2788_zpspgpjfnmn_9557049291e6c82054198c7b2eae2c26aee98c4f.jpg
The last day before we came home was dedicated to Ridgeway State park and a trout pond
    IMG_2878_zpsod6bzbef_0a97a3808c235bb73508964c6278f401f528e38e.jpg
All in all , this is a must do trip for anyone that loves scenery and relaxation. Ouray is know as "The Switzerland of America" . That isn't an exaggeration
The total trip ended up being 1861 miles, over eight days, with all the trails. The Tundra remains a comfortable beast, that also can kick some dirt, mud and rocks around, with the best of them.
Then you can cruise in style on the highways and byways . I am not disappointing in choosing this platform, after my years of FJ Cruisers, Although, I still have a soft spot for the Cruisers :)

Very addicting. When I reached Alberta/Montana border I thought I was going to get busted because of my cheezy fingers. Was sweating it out as I handed over my Passport. :oldglory:

Thanks for the trio report. Thought I would bump this up again to let everyone know that there is a sub forum for trip reports. I will be adding at least one this summer.
