Sway bar, BA Muffler, Hypertech Int, sumo springs,
Getting 15.3 avg in mixed mostly highway driving from stock truck except for a tonneau cover. That is via the ECU computer. Using 91 octane but will probably start on 87 soon and do a comparison.

I have just added BA Muffler, a Hypertech Interceptor and a sway bar so I may reset and reevaluate from here on out.

I am curious to see what the Supercharger guys are getting for sure!

Are you doing a manual calculation for your MPG, or going off what the dash readout says?

    Nice setup, btw. :burnrubber:

Honestly, somewhere between 13 and 13.5. It sucks but it's still cheaper keeping this truck in the road than my diesel Superduty.

This is such a "loaded" thread due to geographical locations, mods, maintenance, and other factors.

    Hell, I will play:thumbsup:

I just started using Fuelly App around 1500 miles ago and it is very helpful with overall costs.

My worst tank is 9.3 mpg and the best was 20.1 mpg. Average is 14.1 mpg. Not bad concidering what I do with my truck.

2016 CM, flex fuel, bone stock Pro. Not too bad I guess (mostly city to/from work with a short stretch of hwy), not sure how accurate the computer is.

When I drove it home from the dealer it only showed 8-9 for a while then it went up after a few days... Kinda weird.

Also looks like guys with the S/C are getting better MPG...? Is that because more HP/TQ easier to get up to speed?

What do you guys put in for fuel. I put in costco premium or chevron premium. Are we supposed to run that in our rigs and does it help with the mpgs?

I put in the 87 octane rating that is required. Depending on where you are, that could be low grade or mid grade. In Colorado, it is mid grade. Low grade in CO is 85 octane, and my truck runs just fine, until the MPG is calculated. I have seen no benefits of running premium fuel in my truck.

So far my 2WD '13 CM Ltd. is getting 18 MPG measured (and dashboard readout is pretty close to that, too). My driving is about 2/3 hiway, 1/3 small town, no traffic jams. I'm in no hurry, though, usually drive at 60 going to town (20 miles). Plan my first long trip next month, ≈2500 miles, and will be doing 75 or so. Anxious to see how she does. Also going to haul my 4500# boat 250 miles to the coast and back next week, and am equally anxious to see what kind of mileage it gets towing the boat.

Actually, higher octane fuel will not give you better MPG, and in fact unless you engine is designed to use it, would have lower thermodynamic efficiency, so technically would give you lower MPG. The only way that a higher octane would improve MPG, is if you could take advantage of its knock resistance and increase the ignition timing and/or the compression ratio, something you can't readily do without redesigning the engine whose ECM controls everything. The flame path travels slower with reduced oxygen at higher elevations, which is why high elevation areas sell lower octane gas. ColoradoTJ is probably better off using the 85 octane (cheaper) at his elevation unless his truck experiences an unlikely knock tendency with it. Of course, when he heads downhill to Wichita, KS, the 85 octane would probably cause the engine to knock, which is why he wouldn't be able to buy 85 octane in Wichita, even if he wanted to.

Well good to know! I'll definitely be putting in the lower octane 87 from now on. I live in the central Valley of California so no high elevation here!

Haven't had the truck long enough to check city mpgs but I know I got 23.5 on the highway in the little 4.0!

For those that are interested I take note in my phone of miles, mpg and gallons for most fill-ups.
Here is 2 years and 3 months worth of data in a summary:

    MPG.jpg

Based on all of the data and notes I took you can conclude:
    • I get 14+ mpg on the highway (most my travel is city thus the low average)
    • I wait till the tank is almost empty before filling up.
    • The truck display is surprising accurate (I do have the hypertech speedo calibrator)

I just got back from my southern California trip. My trip was 417 miles one way and my 2016 cm tundra got 14 mpg. I was hauling 2 electric scooters and 3 passengers. My average speed was 68 miles per hour.

Just finished a 3600 mile trip, driven mostly @ 80 MPH on the interstates between TX and the east coast, and am pleased to have averaged between 17 and 17½ MPG at that speed. Sometimes the computer showed a little less MPG than calculated and sometimes a bit more, but overall was pretty close to the calculated figure.

Only put 190 miles on the truck so far, mostly suburban traffic, kinda short trips, with a 90 mile country/suburb loop today, currently siting at 14.1 (up from 8 when I drove home from the dealer)

I dont think you're crazy at all. I don't record my readings anywhere, just keep them in my head, and have done so for many years for all vehicles. A drop in MPG, whether gradual or sudden, is often the earliest indicator that something needs attention. I would never be concerned over one reading being considerably worse than normal, since there are so many variables that can affect gas mileage, but a trend might well indicate that there is something amiss.
