Is bank 2 on the driver side? I thought bank 2 was passenger side of a 2002 sequoia. It just came up on Convo with the guy when I was telling him about my O2 sensors I put on myself. I might just be getting it confused and need some clarity or is my mechanic really an idiot?

The hard part is reinstalling it, for some folks.

This is the method I use: https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-lunch-table-general-discussion.60450/page-909#post-2613945

I find doing reinstall that way is super helpful. Inspect belt before removal. If you need to replace, now is the time to do it. The (specifically very green) Gates HD belt, which may be made by Delco, I'm not sure, is a great option.

Bank 2 on V8 is passenger side.

Oh wow so the guy really is an idiot. 10 years at Toyota. I'm wondering if he actually got fired for whatever XYZ reason instead of just quiting "because I got tired of the shop screwing over both the customer and tech and running off with all the money at the end of the job"

I just knew it, and when we were looking at the car the other day he even mentioned it being on driver side. And I was like "are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure I remember when doing both my spark plugs and O2 sensors bank 2 being passenger"
He said "oh don't worry I will confirm it before I start the job"

I don't know where he is getting his info but that really scares me. Huge red flag that even "after confirming it" he still says it's driver side

Looks like I'm going to have to really get down and dirty myself here shortly. Pray for be that this belt doesn't fight back. I'm pretty nervous I won't be able to get it back off and/or back on

I just reinstalled my belt so I could replace a water hose behind it and used the method @shifty` described in the link. One tricky item is position your breaker bar so you get full travel on the tensioner.

Bank 1 is driver side aka "B1", and there are two O2 sensor positions, upstreeam "S1" and downstream "S2", you'll see this in the FSM as B1S1 and B1S2. Bank one for the V8 has the odd-number cylinders, i.e. 1, 3, 5, 7 where #1 is closest to the radiator. Sometimes the upstream O2 sensor is referred to as air/fuel ratio sensor, because that's it's primary function: Sniffing the combustion mixture for fuel/oxygen after it leaves the engine.

Bank 2 is passenger side aka "B2", and has the same S1/S2 designations/positions on the O2 sensors. Bank 2 has even-number cylinders, i.e. 2, 4, 6, 8 where #2 is closest to the radiator.

This is very clearly stated in the FSM.

Hardest part of removing the belt is releasing and holding the tensioner out of the way.

Before you pull the serpentine belt, I'd check the things that BroHon lists above.

Just because someone worked at a dealership, doesn't mean they were a qualified mechanic. They could have just been doing oil changes and tire rotations, or some mechanics just aren't very good mechanics.

Do I need any special tools for removing& replacing serp belt? Looks like all I need is just a wrench and about a hour or so correct?

I got underneath the truck and inspected all the heat Shields, and for anything out of place. everything seemed in place and sturdy. I shook everything to see if anything was loose and no. Took the wheels off, first shields are in place.

I shook the front two tires at both horizontal and vertical. Is lose in both directions on both wheels. All 4 wheels seem to be hard to spin ...(but,I'm not a strong person anyhow just FYI...)All 4 wheels make a very very quiet scraping noise as I spin. (but this is NOT the noise I'm chasing down, because my noise NEVER EVER happens going down a hill, ONLY when the gas peddle is pressed, if the gas isn't pressed there is no noise regardless of speed)

The noise you describe sounds like bearings, although it could also be calipers. That you're talking about play, it makes me think bearings.

Serp belt aka 'drive belt', you'll need a long wrench or ideally a breaker bar. I think this video covers the process fairly well, but I dunno. The belt he's showing being installed is inferior to the Gates HD green belt. I think the two belts are made by two different warehouses.

so not only does the vehicle have to be moving, to make the noise the vehicle has to be accelerating? The second you take your foot off the gas at 30mph, the sound goes away?

Yes the is correct. The noise now appears at different speeds, sometimes it shows around 20-35 mph. Sometimes it shows around 50-60mph. Going up the hill right by my house, it shows up everytime, that's around 25-30mph. Ive even had it show up around 15mph.

But yes that is correct, the moment I take my foot off the gas the sound will disappears. The noise will also disappear on it own if I continue to press the gas, once I go past the intervals listed above. I hope that makes since

Have you checked the u-joints on your driveshaft for play? Needle bearings in u-joints love making screechy noises when they dry out. Letting off gas pedal and sound dies is a good symptom. Could point to u-joints, pinion, ???

this may be a bit sketchy, but when nobody is around can you try to start the noise, keep your foot on the gas, and barely touch the brake?

start the noise, keep your foot on the gas and slightly steer left right left really fast?

basically anything you can do to manipulate the grinding sound other than release the gas?

Ok I'm about to take my serp belt off to do the diagnosis. While I have it off in going to spin each pulley. Will it mess anything up if I spin them the "opposite" direction they normally spin?

Wanted to spin them by hand to see if anything is off.

Also I'm about to post the requested video of my truck (in drive with the brake and parking brake on, while pressing the gas. View of the undercarriage) that's what they wanted right?

Sorry if my sentences and thoughts are a bit scattered. Trying to juggle fixing my car in-between studying & life day by day (clown emoji because they juggle lol!!) edit-apparently this forum doesn't let me use emojis... oh well

How about some pictures of this rig? A couple sitting in the drive, a couple underneath ect... How many miles?
OH, and if your feet are in the pic they need to be bare, and if we can see you in any reflections you must be flippin the bird.
