My Tundra is clean, had a Benz that was salvaged and multiple motorcycles with salvage titles. Inspection depends on the state, usually just a vin and light inspection but YMMV. I've never had insurance really give a damn or even notice if the title was salvaged. Motorcycles can get totaled out just from being tipped over off the kick stand, so it's pretty damn common with them. With cars and trucks I'd like to know where the damage was and see the repair work, but the salvage title alone wouldn't scare me off.

Here they’re like Nazis. You can’t get collision or comprehensive coverage unless the vehicle is corrected for the original reason it was salvaged.

Vehicle liability isn’t an issue getting though plus it’s mandatory anyway to drive it.

So I've noticed that my 06 brakes only squeal really loud when I'm in reverse.
My 03 doesn't squeal at all. Any idea what could be the cause of the brakes squeal in reverse? It's super annoying.

The pads are glazed. Remove the pads and sand the surface just a bit and reinstall.

This happened to me because my front passenger dust shield was ever so slightly touching the rotor, after lifting my truck. My stupidfuckass didn't notice I did that while I had the knuckle out to press out UBJ.

I'll give this a shot when I replace my driver side bellow soon.

Yeah, Casey greased em when we did the 14wa upgrade and they do have shims. But we had to reuse the 13WL shims because Toyota doesn't include shims when you buy brake pads for some reason. The shims fit good though.

We checked the dust shields before we put the wheels back on. Everything was rolling smooth.

I had that happen when I ordered rear brake pads for my wife's corolla. Had to reuse the old, never even crossed my mind that I would have to look for a part number for that.

You didn't throw out those WL's did ya?

VERY simple to register and insure a salvage title vehicle in oregon. Especially since there’s no vehicle safety inspections.

Hey I found my old rear seat belt buckles. Not sure if they're compatible with he front seats. I guess you'd have used yours if they were. But you can have em if you want em. Eventually I wanna make a man cave couch out of the rear seats.

Depends on the state that you are in and the requirements on the salvage title. I think that TX has it the easiest because they don't brand a title as salvaged if it was previously deemed a total loss. In GA you have to have it inspected by the state and they will then give you a "rebuilt title" before you can try to insure it.

Insurance companies mostly do not want to insure a previously totaled vehicle. They will offer extreme premiums to scare you away or just flat out deny it. If you do find a reasonable rate then it will more than likely be under liability coverage only.

We've never had them in GA from what I can remember. We only have to pass the emissions test and if it's over 25 years old then you don't need emissions. Some counties in GA don't even require emissions, so you just pay the $25 fee for the registration.

Good info. I had it wrong about TX then.

A salvage title means it's still a "total loss" and hasn't been repaired yet. Rebuilt means that the damage that caused it to be a total loss has been repaired and passed inspection.

I will say from experience that just because it passed inspection it does not mean that the repairs were completed correctly. I have seen some NASTY repairs on approved vehicles. Inches thick of bondo, paint runs, solvent pop, misaligned gaps, cheap quality aftermarket parts and the list goes on. I'm almost certain that the people that complete the inspections have no idea what to look for.

No ragrets on my top plates or going flat instead of angled. They work so good as running boards. Only issue is my boots track so much sand and scratch them up.

    That's "patina"

You could always Raptor Line just the top half, tape horizontally about midway down the outer tube, and shoot them. Would probably make the sliders look like a store-bought product, and you wouldn't need to worry about the bullshit others who coated the underside have dealt with, the liner ripping off etc.

yeah - found a truck that was previously 'totaled' and had the truck bed replaced - frame was fine I was told. Trying to get the salvage title to Wisconsin seems like a real pain - as it has to be inspected first - with documentation/photos showing the damage and the replacement/fixes. No idea if you really have to go that deep. But seems like a lot.

Yeah, you do a lot of the time.

Did you buy it yet? If not, I'd look into trying to get them to put in on a frame rack and send you the measurements.

have not purchased. Seller is right down the road from a good friend of mine and I might have him go check it out and provide more feedback - outside of the accident (which I'm told all was fixed by Toyota) it seems legit. getting measurements is a great idea.
