Very nice ... talking with my daughter and son we're all ready to go again after it cools down a bit. Grandsons and granddaughter are anxious for some throttle time as well to get them off them damn electronics :)

replaced a leaky radiator on my CR125 project and threw on a new fatty pipe! Found a used radiator on mxlocker for $80, offered $69 and they accepted. Tried to blue the welds on the expansion chamber with a torch and then realized that there’s probably a nickel coating on the pipe rn lol. Bike is sounding crispy now!

Thanks, It's a super clean bike I was really impressed when I rode it. I wish these existed back when I was modifying 125 MX bikes to ride in the woods as a kid in the early 90's.

There were things she really liked with the FE350 it definitely wasn't stock, my buddy has the identical bike and his is anemic compared to hers. The weight and power just seemed to wear her out quickly, she's just learning how to ride so we figured a lighter bike with a little less power would equate to more seat time building her confidence and ability.

I'm all about the 300's, I'm on my 6th 300 now so I'm probably biased. Every time I ride a 250 I have a blast as I can keep it on the pipe and rip around feeling like I'm hauling the mail until we get into the more technical stuff and that little bit of extra torque the 300 has just seems to shine. I think it's the ability to short shift, ride a gear high and use the clutch to build revs but not spin or light up the rear tire.

I think it will be a better ride for her....as long as she doesn't whiskey throttle a 2 smoke. My daughter got the first hand experience with that. :eek2:

Sounds like you are the one to talk with on 300's.

I'm a little concerned with the fuel injection on these KTM/husky 250/300 bikes. Seen a couple Lectron carburetor bikes for good deals.

    Pretty good builds, new(ish) motors.

    Newer 300's

The yellow Husky is pretty sweet, but is set up for MX.

Some beauties in that line up, I really dig the yellow Husky as well even if it's set up for moto it still has the semi wide ratio gearbox so to me it's like the best of all worlds ride the track adjust the suspension and ride desert or single track. I haven't ridden the TC or SX gearbox enough to have a strong opinion but can say riding a buddies SX300 I felt like I was constantly shifting it. I've been wanting a TX or XC to set up for a desert 2 stroke. I've never run the Lectron carbs so I can't really speak to them (my buddies swear by them though). I have always been a fan of the JD jetting kits with the stock carbs on my 2005 KTM 300EXC, 2007 KTM 300XC, 2011 TM 300EN, 2015 Beta 300RR. My 2018 Husky TE 300 I played with using Mikuni jets/needles and ultimately ended up going with a JD kit but figured out to do a new jet block gasket and o-ring it was best running carbed bike I've ever had. My 2024 TE300 is the TBI we added a RK Tek Head insert and kept the ECU stock all I can say is this is the best running 300 I've had power wise the only issue I've had is the amount of spooge that I get out of the silencer (I'm going to delete the oil injection and go back to premix). I haven't owned a TPI 300 but the new 150 we picked up is TPI and it's really smooth, all my buddies that have owned TPI 300's have loved them but they like the TBI bikes better (old Idaho riding crew they put a ton of hours on their bikes and replace them every year or every other year). I was hesitant to go FI but after making the switch I don't think I'd go back to a carb.

Not sure if you use KSL at all but another place to look. I've bought and sold bikes on it and have had really good luck with it.

TPI bikes are solid. Start right up every time, run great from sea level to 10000', no mixing gas. Mine has the TSP head and tune on it now and it's awesome. The first year TPIs (2018?) had some issues but those are fixed. I know a couple guys with lectron 300s and they're pretty sweet too, especially if you ride at a lot of different elevations.

Yep! My 2020 300 TPI has the TSP tune and head too and it’s been absolutely flawless!

If you decide on a TPI bike the two stroke performance ECU and head is a very nice upgrade. The TPI is also very efficient on premix, can probably go 3-4 rides before having to refill, depending on how long the rides are. Also like that if your 4 stroke riding buddies or you get low on fuel you can give some to each other. I’ve had to do that a few times haha

As others have said, TPIs are solid. In 2023 KTM switched to TBI (throttle body injection) in the XC & SX, then all of the 2Ts went to TBI in 2024. TBI is improved upon from the TPI. The power valve is also now electronically controlled for better tuning too.

I know some folks like to eliminate the oil injector on their TPIs, but supposedly any problems with the oil injection is a thing of the past with the TBIs. I've a 2025 300 XC-W with 42 hours on it (bought new). Absolutely problem-free with stock oil injection. I just make sure to top it off after every ride.

I really like the TSP tuner. Because I do more technical riding, I'm not as inclined to install a higher compression head, as mo powa ain't always mo betta when trying to modulate tire speed through clutch control. The 300s have plenty of power to toss my 260 lbs (with riding gear) around. So, I use the TSP ECU reflash module to refine the tunes, having two to choose from with the bitch switch that came with the XC-W. One tune is less aggressive and the other is... you guessed it... more aggressive.

Thanks for all the input. I'll go test one of these 300's out and see if that fits my style of riding.

On the flip side if the next bike is another thumper, it will be a Yamaha FX.

Call me crazy but I like 4 strokes for woods riding. You should jump on a 350 in the woods if you get the chance before you go blue! This coming from a diehard Yamaha guy haha

    I like 4 strokes...like a lot. I haven't had a 2 stroke since my 2002 Honda CR250 so it's been a minute.

I would like to toss a knee over a 350. My 250F was ok, geared down but just not enough. With gear I'm at 230. So that is a concern.

You’re big enough to throw a 450 around. They’re just such pigs that I can’t bring myself to convert mine over, and the old 250f is still an absolute bruiser. Being small also doesn’t give me any desire to ride the big bore in the woods . Curious to hear how you feel if you ever track a 350 down. Some of the dealers around there still do demo days, granted they’re on tracks. I caught Yamaha at IMI just a year ago or so and they had the whole fleet on the track to ride. Idk how Elite is doing these days but I think they used to have demos as well.

I used to have such a network of riders to test out all the bikes at the track. This would be nice to still have.

So this might surprise you, but the Yamaha 250F we tested out before getting my daughter her KLX230 was a beast. 2008 if I remember correctly. Once we got it started, damn thing ran hard. It hit harder than my 2023 KX250F.
