No Crank, Click, No Start (the Click Clique?)

When you say behind the AC, is it as simple as pulling the controls? I have an aftermarket head unit in there and can take all that apart and put it back together in about 30 seconds...

 

No, that's easy, it's behind the actual ac unit. The whole dash and AC unit gotta come out first.

 

That seems slightly crazy to have to dig through that. Was there an actual problem with it when you got there? I would expect some oxidation as you show in the pictures, but does it/did it affect the startup?

 

Its my family car atm, so haven't pulled anything besides surface level. If it ever breaks down or acquire a 2nd family vehicle, I'll go all in, but its working as it should

 

Just put the battery back in - same no start condition.

Just making 100% sure - I watched a video where he tested the delay two ways: with it removed and jumping from the middle (12v) to the right (the larger blades), and then with the relay partially installed and applying power to the back left (smaller, silver) blade. I'm going off memory that I did the first, but do I need to do it both ways? I don't have a power probe like in the video.

 

You talking about jumping the relay??
I've do e it, but I don't remember which teeth.

 

Yeah. I was messing around with it a bit, pulled the relay and replaced it. Click. Pulled the battery. Cleaned off the ground wire at the fender, which was pretty clean to begin with, I mostly just scraped it a bit where it touches the metal. Threw my multimeter on to remote start it and check the voltage drop.

Vroom. Starts right up. =|

Let it run for a couple of minutes. Backed it into the driveway so it's on the concrete, not the gravel. Shut it off. Started again, no problem. Well...WTF

 

Yep, until next time. I go through this periodically. More in the summer. Some solder, or wire somewhere getting heat soaked and swells and loses contact.. very similar to the aux port.. I lose audio on the driver side since solders are broken. Have resoldered, but it's an ongoing loop.

 

"Next time" ended up being a few hours later lol...At least I have it on the concrete now where I can jack it up and take a look (not on the gravel).

 

It almost sounds like when my starter went out.... I shared it at another site that's decomissioned... but it failed to start 4 times before it just died completely. I jump started it, replaced the relay and the battery and would start once and then fail to start. Even got in an argument with pepboys over the battery warranty, which only had days left vs the manufacturer sticker.
Eitherway it stalled half a mile from the house, and it started raining. Ended up calling triple A to tow me the half mile, told him to pick a shop and charge the full 10 miles at the time. I got the hondo now since I live far from decent shops.

 

It's definitely hit or miss on starting or not starting. When it starts, it starts fine and runs strong. When it doesn't...well, it doesn't. I think I'm going to just have it towed to the dealership or call my mom next time it starts and have her meet me there and drop it off. I feel like I can't really make an appointment right now, mostly due to I have no idea if/when it will start!!

 

So next time it fails to start some people say pull the key out and flip it 180 degrees and re insert it and see if it starts.
If it still fails leave the key in the ignition and move the column in and out and around until it starts, then lock it in place.... sounds like we're in the same boat sorta.

 

It won't start via the remote-start is it is, do I don't think the key has anything to do with it?

 

Bruh, slipping.. running on no sleep for 30 hours.. hang that key in the driver door lock or ignition for 30 minutes, watch your favorite show or youtube vid while you hurry up and wait. It may not be detecting the key and rejecting the remote start.
