It must have sat for quite a while unused, moisture got in there, rust pits.
I wonder what I'll find under my covers. Mine went from Feb 2014 to Sept 2021 (when I bought it) and only logged 7800 miles. It sat for Years after the accident it was in as far as I can decipher. The blown out tank supports my theory.

    Cut it up for disposal/autopsy.

Lots of those around here that are work trucks, but very rarely any color besides white.

Simply put, beat on it or press it out. Method 1, the bfunke method, is to tap it out, gently and steadily with a hammer. Method 2, the des2mtn method, is to press it out using a large c-clamp and a socket or box end wrench on the backside. This allows space for the lug to clear its seating area. A buddy of mine was concerned about method 1 due to danger to the bearing and seals. My take is that it's fine, so long as you don't beat the living piss out of it. Take it easy. This is what I did, along with soaking it in penetrating oil. I prefer method 2, but I did not have adequate space to fit both the box end wrench / socket and the head of the c clamp.

Today is new tool day for me. Doing another valve cover gasket next weekend. Thought I might get myself some Knipex long-handled 45 degree needlenose, but open to suggestions. 1st Gen community, what do I need? ;) Have the necessary, usual stuff - sockets, end wrenches, vise grips, so on so forth.....

Side note, I heard a guy on Youtube refer to his "metric" crescent wrench. ;)

Where the “1st gen spotting” thread.
Saw this little 2,000 gem yesterday.
So used to seeing the taller later models took me a second to realize it was a tundra.
He said he has over 300k miles, every thing still works, and hopes to get couple hundred thousand more out of it.

Ended up going with....drum roll please...a Tekton pick. ;) Toying with the idea of a power ratchet, but the hard truth is I don't do enough wrenching to warrant it. Plus I'm old school I guess....like the "feel" of hand tools....

Interesting. Would that gear oil be ideal for our trucks?

I'm not entirely sure if it would be better than the recommended Lucas 80w90 that other members use for LSD's. The new Toyota diff oil is 75w85 for LSD.

That's a pretty cool model. Did you have to put it together or did I it come fully assembled?
