I do the same thing. Don't want door dings.
Also because it's my first truck, I kind of suck at parking it. Bigger than what I was used to.
No problem backing up a trailer in one try, but remove that and I suddenly become that line straddling idiot.

 

You should see how they drive. Those Connecticut people drive right into the left lane and stay there when entering the highway.

 

Pretty sure that's SOP in a lot of areas these days. Passing lane? What's that?

And then you come out and some dope is parked right next to you with 30 empty parking spots around !

 

LOL...I usually park at the back of the lot.
Had to many door dings over the years.
Which is kind of ironic when I have self inflicted Redneck pinstriping down both sides of my truck.

Best is at a home improvement store with a trailer. I park all the way in back by myself to come out and a couple idiots make it almost impossible to get out or load my stuff.
Same with the camper or boat

 

Or they swing their door wildly open and hit your truck. Whoops. Tee hee. Oh well. Off I go.

This idiot was too lazy to continue their direction and park 3 spaces down from me. So did a 5 point turn around to get that space and then still missed

 

His nose was just enough forward to count as 4 spaces.

Yeah, I hate it when disabled people think they have different rules. I'm disabled myself but I follow all the rules, written and unwritten.
