I can tune locally or remotely. Remote is spendier because you would need the software.

That’s the basic of it. I’ve got a few hundred parameters I adjust within the stock file that helps create the additional power while also improving the efficiency.

Ive yet to see higher HP gains from an actual tune than from a tuner box. Are we just not there yet on the custom tuning side of things?

    I should use "claimed gains"

Having a tuner work on the vehicle allows the tune in stay in the safe zone. A canned tune can some to me just be throwing stuff at the wall, relying on the built in software safeties (like knock feedback, for example) to kick if anything goes awry.

Tuners like @texoma can monitor data logs and/or dyno feedback to personalize that tune specifically for the vehicle, as well as the drivers wants and needs. This also allows them to tune driveability, not just peak numbers.

When I had my ‘13 dyno tuned, I told the tuner I cared less about peak numbers at the top of the curve and more about power under the curve - particularly torque. The result was a virtually instant torque plateau that was nearly flat up to 5k rpm. I was still very happy with the peak numbers, and they were able to improve on the base tune by 30+ HP.

That base tune without logs and feedback is what you are getting in a tuner box. Boxes with multiple maps will usually claim numbers off of their Race tune or High HP tune, which is rarely safe, IMO. I remember some companies even issuing waivers that a customer would have to sign in order to unlock that tune. I also know guys that have burned up pistons and blown motors running around town or towing on the Race tune. A personalized tune is typically built to be reliable, day in and day out.

Then there’s the fact that I haven’t seen a lot of dyno pulls with just a tune box installed. Most are custom tuned. And dynos can’t really be compared to other dynos with a high degree of accuracy. The same truck will read different numbers on different dynos.

Then dyno maintenance as well. Went to a very reputable shop that I rented a very well maintained dyno to get my initial 87 octane numbers. They unfortunately didn’t align with me getting a truck on for 93 octane and had to choose another shop that their dyno was not maintained at all. You get what ya pay for statement there.

I'm assuming the tune that you provide still voids manufacturer warranty? If by chance it does not what do you charge to tune remotely? I live in lower Alabama.

Anything aftermarket to your truck will void a warranty. Replaced your shocks, your shock warranty is no good. With tuning, the tech would have to know if the vehicle is tuned. Yes there are ways to tell, but not every tech, or even every dealership will have that ability. Plus, what I offer is proven and safe. If you’re still interested, shoot me a PM and we can discuss specifics.
