Hello I have a 2013 Toyota tundra double cab non-JBL non-navigation. I installed a maestro RR with a Kenwood DMX 958 XR and none of my OBD are reading. It recognizes that the door doors are open and closed and that’s about all. Maestro can’t help me and I haven’t seen anything on the forums that fixed my problem. I got all my harness equipment from. https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/

    Alot of them
Is the OBD connector plugged in fully? Also, go through the settings on the Kenwood. Alot of the headunits have a setting to turn the OBD function on.

Did you program the Maestro yourself or did it come pre-programmed?

The OBD plug for the Maestro RR is fully seated on both ends. It has been reflashed and reset multiple times. Head unit has been initialized multiple times as well. I did not see any settings to “turn on” OBD feature in my kenwood.

The Maestro RR came programed, but I also reflashed it.

There's a function in the Maestro settings to "Validate PID's"... see if you can find that.

I'm at work at the moment but when I can I'll try to find some of my post's that might help you.

One of the threads has contact info for the guys at iDatalink / Maestro who were AMAZING and super helpful when I was having issues getting my trans temp gauge to work.

In the meantime you might type "Maestro" or "iDatalink" or "DMX1057XR" and posted by SD Surfer into the search engine and see what you find.

    BOOM!!

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/reading-trans-temps-questions-about-model-year-device.142942/

Check out this thread, specifically @centex post #27 for Maestro Support contact info.

Huge props to @centex for helping the Maestro guys make this happen, providing them with PID's and getting a Beta version pushed out to his, and then my individual units.

Here’s the response I got from maestro today when I asked.

    Hi,

You can try going in the radio and validating the PIDs on the vehicle. It'll be in the radio menu, something like this:

OEM Setup > Maestro Features > Gauges > Validate PIDs.

If that doesn't light it up, we're not seeing the universal PID on network for Trans Temp and won't be able to display it.

    Thanks,

Hey SD Surfer, thanks for the post. I have validated multiple times and it never finishes validating. It stays on the screen that says “supported pids detection” until I manually back out of it.

The guys at Maestro have not been helpful at all. They are telling me my wire harness is not OEM from Maestro which for all I know it is original equipment.

That could certainly cause some issues.

Did you reach out to the place you sourced the harness from?

I do vaguely remember a setting to toggle "OBD Always On" or something to that effect.

    Ugh... that's lame.

Stuff like this is so aggravating.

That's one of the reasons I just bit the bullet and paid the professionals to do my install.

"Here, I'm going surfing. Call me when it's done."

I have not been able to find this setting nor have I heard of it. Ive spent hours on hours trying to run through all the settings through the DMX958XR.

I'm not at my truck (rode my E-bike to work)

I'll see if I can find it later.

I wanna' say it's a HU setting as opposed to a Maestro setting.

Okay, that took me a minute.

Don't know that this will fix anything but it's worth checking.

Unfortunately that did not work, but it was disabled so I enabled it. I thought for sure that was going to be the culprit. Thank you for the insight though.

Bummer. Did you validate PID's again after?

So you said that the Maestro guys told you your harness wasn't OEM Maestro. How did they know that? From pictures you sent or can they tell electronically?

Did they say that was the source of the problem, or just the reason they couldn't help?

I tried to validate but it doesn't do anything. Sat there for 15 mins with no prevail.

The guy I spoke with on the phone asked what color the 18 pin plug color was that is plugged into the Maestro. Mine is white and he said it should be “black”. From there he said he will no longer be able to help me because it wasn’t a harness supplied from Maestro brand.

    Yeah, that stands to reason.

Sounds like that harness might be your prime suspect. That would explain why the harness guy isn't very responsive either.

I wonder how much the Maestro brand harness is.
