I have had a box of Amsoil ATF SS fluid sitting in the basement and now that I want to do a D&F I am having second thoughts about. The 2nd thoughts are about whether to use Amsoil or buy Toyota WS fluid, especially now with the 25% off and free shipping deal going on now. Help me out folks.

I bought my ATF when they last had the sale, and I'm an Amsoil fanboy. Would totally stick to OEM

The Toyota WS is KNOWN to be a good and 100% compatible formulation for your Toyota Trans.

Amsoil is a quality product and some people have said they use it with no issues, but... Is that a 100% KNOWN winner for your specific application or is there a lingering smidgen of uncertainty?

The Amsoil ATF is fine and proven to be compatible. Don’t waste money on additional fluid.

I used amsoil on my drain and fill. I did notice that the Toyota WS and the amsoil didn’t really play nicely together. Nothing crazy, but shifted a little rougher. I did 2 more drain and fills after that with amsoil and no issues since. Long term I guess you never know, but I figure I’m already in this deep might as well just let it roll…

There are a few different Amsoil ATFs. If you have the Amsoil Signature Series Fuel Efficient 100% Synthetic, it's WS certified. The other types of Amsoil ATFs are not. OEM WS synth is no better than the Amsoil.

as noted above, best to not mix. Fluid is cheap compared to tranny cost

    Try Fred Anderson

I ordered through them, and it was shipped to me w/o issue during one of their sales...

Make sure you get to the actual checkout screen to see the shipping rate adjusted and for the 25% off to be applied to your cart!

Nevermind. I didn't scroll all the way down when checking out to see the total with Andersen. Serra doesn't do sales tax for me, that's why I try with them first.

If you do a complete replacement, you won't be mixing the OEM with the Amsoil anyway, so that shouldn't concern you. Of course, that means you might have to buy more Amsoil, so it's one or the other. Buy more Amsoil or buy some of the Toyota stuff. The first thing I did when I bought my '13 with 30K miles on the truck, was to do a complete exchange of the xmsn fluid to the Amsoil. At 240K on it now, I've done it three times since. Can't even feel the shifts.

Ordered OEM ATF last night and ordered 3 more gallons of the super long life coolant. I have 3 gallons of Aisin coolant which I will be doing soon with 2 new radiator hoses, new clamps, thermostat elbow, and new rad cap.

Can the Amsoil be used as power steering fluid as someone else mentioned?

I’ve had Amsoil as blue cap in for 40ish thousand miles. I trust it a lot more than the WS. I’m not sure why people get hard for WS fluid.

That’s what I like to hear! I’m only at about 40k. Glad to hear I didn’t more than likely grenade my tranny by switching. It does shift smoother than the WS did especially when cold in winter.
