As the title mentions, those that know, know. I’ve gone through some DIY methods of removing our trucks DCM with success but figured time to try one of the options premade in the market. I purchased this kit: https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/store/AHH-DCM77

here’s some install pictures as they doesn’t seem to be any write ups for this on the tundras. Total time was less than 15min.

pop the cover under the passenger glove box and reach up, unplug everything on the DCM, plug in the harness. Done.

There is 6 connectors. 1 long gray the bypass harness plugs into, 1 square white connector also has a bypass harness and then 1 black stubby connector just unplug and 3 similar white, blue, gray plugs all have a little push clip and pull out and just leave unplugged.

wrap with some Tesa tape to stop any rattles and stuff it back up there. No more DCM, no more reporting to Toyota, no more connected services. Your trucks local black box still functions but nothing uploaded anymore, keeping OEM microphone, speakers, headunit etc.. all working.

An update, this does appear to remove the “vehicle customization” option off the head unit as well. Thankfully not a setting I change ever and an easy plug back in when I want it, but worth noting.

oddly enough (perhaps placebo) the head unit does seem more responsive.

This is just what I want!

Is it necessary to remove the airbag etc, or is it sufficient to simply pop the clips and pull the bottom plastic cover off?

Check your speakers, DCM also has factory speaker wiring going through it for the passenger front something if I recall correctly.

the factory config options do disappear it seems from the stock headunit for like how many beeps, beep tone, vehicle config etc… but set those once and forget anyways.
