If not, you can use a VeePeak OBD dongle and see it with CarPlay.

I use Carista OBD dongle and keep the trans temp on one of my phone backscreens so I can check it anytime while I'm towing.

Is there any scan tool that shows the trans temp without a subscrptuon?

I have a $60 corded scanner but could not find trans temp on that one.

Scan Gauge II (and I'd guess Scan Gauge III) can monitor transmission pan and torque converter temps with no subscription. It's a tad involved to setup the first go around, but very easy after that

With it running/turned on use the buttons on the left side of your steering wheel to navigate to the gear icon. There should be an option to "customize right side" and that will have options for setting what is displayed on the right side of your digital gauge cluster. You might have to select the image of the instrument cluster and the "customize right side" might be under that. I haven't adjusted mine in a long time.

Now, I do not have the hybrid, so you may or may not have the same options for the right side.

I picked up a Veepeak and purchased the extended diagnostics and can monitor trans pan and torque convertor

Like Godzilla said you do have one. It’s a bar graph with no actual temperature reading. Left side of steering wheel use the right and left arrow button. Go to the gear portion and scroll down to customize right side. Then hit towing gauges. It will give you bar graph for (Turbo/Hybrid/Oil Temp/Trans Temp

Same, as well as a few other items.

    Screen one:
    Trans pan temp
    TCC temp
    Oil temp
    Coolant temp
    Gear
    TCC lockup status

    Then on another screen:
    Throttle position
    ACIS status
    Fuel burn rate
    Estimated HP
    Estimated Tq
    Engine load %

    Thank you.

Is the extended diagnostic a one time purchase?

Many reviews online say that features are moved from being free to behind a pay wall on this device/ application pair.

I see these dongles can be found for under $40, how much is the required fee to unlock the transmission temp etc.

    Thanks again for the reply.

It was 70, 1 time deal... I bit the bullet since I have multiple Toyotas which will work out in the long run
    Edit:
I paired it with OBD fusion
These are the options, don't know about specific years but I just took the big boy, bottom picture, for actual price top picture

    Thank you, that helps.

We have two Toyotas and a Chevy, and being once and done is good.

Yeah, it's a good tool... these are some of the additional PIDs that are included... top 2 are transmission fluid temps. Low one is pan, high one is torque convertor, you can see how I'm cooking mine at the convertor.....
