for sure, and inch doesn't really mean much to me, I understand it would to others.

at least you can get 4 guys in this one without going over payload like my gen 2.5 did, lol. It was 1,100 then I got one of the yellow stickers and it dipped down a few more lbs.

My 2019 had 1265 lbs. payload and my 2025 has 1390 lbs. payload. Neither will be overweight with 4 adults, unless they are even fatter than me, but neither one is taking 4 adults and towing/hauling at the same time.

nope, they sure aren't, need to be empty to tow anything bigger.

my platinums have a larger spread then that, my 2016 was 1075 or something right there and my 2023 is 13XX.

anyways, I really think toyota should offer a payload package option on any non hybrid truck and all it needs is the GVWR of the hybrid as part of the package, and poof we have a nice 1/2 ton payload rating

Ah, fair. My 2019 was an SR5, but it was well equipped. I imagine there's a bit more payload to gain if I were in an SR5 now, but not enough to sway me away from or toward on travel trailer or another.

ya, and most gen 3s that have weighed have found several hundred pounds more toyota sandbagged the ratings for some reason, but most are 2-4 hundred more listed ratings more.

    every little bit helps.

at least I can get in this one and still have a "1/2 ton" payload, lol.

Im working on that too, down to 271, woohoo, lifting and biking now out here in AZ, I tell ya man, the older you get the harder this shit is, lol.

Payload capacity is something I've never paid any attention to on any of my trucks. I'm pretty sure I've exceeded them a few times for short drives, but I was just extra careful.

I'll probably be about 800 lbs over driving to Powell next week - the truck doesn't care if you don't drive it like a sports car.

it not really even about the truck unless you're going way over, its more about the lawyer insurance BS world we live in, you get tagged or in a accident well over payload and knowingly well over payload it can get ugly.

but thats a whole other topic

    drive safe and have fun.

I'm pretty sure I was tad over my Jeep's payload capacity on this day.

That's actually a pic that's been floating around the internet for decades, not my Jeep or elk.

I have hauled several bull elk off the mountain in my Jeep CJ7. But it's 10" longer than the CJ5 in that picture, so we were able to cram more of the elk inside. And they were hauled to the skinning shed on the ranch only, never around town.

The lower windshield in the Gen3 is one of my biggest complaints.
I’m constantly lower my head to see the traffic light when stopped on red.

Since we're hopelessly off-topic again, can one of you Gen 2.5 owners measure your front seat butt cushion at its widest point?

The Gen 3 is just under 21", and it seems a lot narrower than my '15 was, but maybe my butt has just gotten wider. :monocle:

Widest on mine is 22". But it is 21" or more from the front all the way back to the cutout for the buckle 2/3 of the way back.

Thanks, so I guess there isn't much difference. I measured roughly in the center of the seat. They do flare out a bit towards the front, as well.

Not that the Gen 3's are less comfortable. I like the leg extender for long trips. It just seemed like my '15's were wider.

that thigh extender was awesome when I just drove from Northern IL to southern AZ, wow that was nice.

truck is awesome for road trips, rides 100% better than my 2016, I had sandbags in the back of that damn thing to not rattle my teeth loose on the shitty chi-town roads.

I also really like the lumber how you can not only adjust in and out, but also up and down, so 4 way, thats a nice on long trips

One of the greatest loses to western civilization was the captains seat you could get in full size trucks.

    May it RIP.

My 2005 RV has the most comfortable captain's seats I've ever sat in. They're tall, upright, great support, and put me in the perfect position to drive for hours without any discomfort, anywhere. They're glorious.

A captains seat puts your butt much higher off the floor, so your feet aren't extended out in front of your knees. They put you in a more upright and natural seated position. Think of the most comfortable office desk chair you've ever had, only with more padding. They are common in RVs and big hauling trucks.

Nope, 5’ 10’’. I do have the seat up a bit but only enough to see the important parts of the gauges through the top of the steering wheel.
I guess I’ll play around to see if I can come up with an acceptable compromise.

I like the reduced greenhouse and went a step further tinting the front windshield too. I’m in Florida a lot though.
