Thieves got into my truck last night. They tried like hell to get into the center console safe from Toyota. I guess they were unsuccessful, but I can’t open the safe to check. They tore off the trim pieces in the back seat trying to get into it as well.

I'm pretty impressed with the Toyota Safe. They obviously went to town with a crowbar and it faired pretty well.

Definitely sucks... I hate theives

It's bad enough they steal and violate your property in the process, but to also damage your vehicle on top of it freakin' sucks worse...

I'm guessing whatever you had in the safe is still secure, cuz dude(s) aren't gonna take the time to wedge that thing back into a shut position...

I'd be out late tomorrow night cruzin' through adjacent neighborhoods looking for the dude walking around w/the felony backpack!!!

Neighbors Ring camera showed them pulling up in what looks like a Subaru hatchback. Damn Subaru drivers always jealous of Toyotas!

This sucks! Even worse the damn police won't fingerprint or investigate it. Good luck with insurance. Everyone should look into zero ded. on comp. coverage...very minimal added premium.

Surprisingly Memphis PD sent out 3 officers. They pulled a bunch of prints off the chrome door handles. Oddly enough the thieves tried to read the owner's manual to see how to get into the safe when they pulled the trim panels off. Got some really good prints off the owners manual lol.

I assume the truck was locked. Did they break a window to get in?

Leaving fingerprints on the manual is hilarious. I take it they weren't the brightest thieves on the block.

I hope the d-bags are caught and convicted. Sorry about your truck, man.

    Bruh apparently not... lol...
A while back my neighbor showed me the video of his house getting broken into. Dude's were strolling through the backyard and garage like they were shopping at Walmart. Neighbors were in the house while this stuff went down.

and yes as previously mentioned, not normal course for most large agencies to process thefts from vehicle...

So, hats off to MPD for doing that

PD tends to want to right off these small, personal vehicle break-ins as punk kids looking for quick scores. They tend to be part of larger "organized" crime. Glad they took this one seriously. Catching them may reveal their other exploits and prevent the future ones. Much like the cat thefts.

I am not the best believer but I try to walk the walk. I’ve had things stolen from me and it brings out a feeling in me that is not good.

    I feel for you man.
I hope they are found and I hope they are found quickly. I’m surprised that LE fingerprinted the vehicle but I’m glad they did.

The fact that they got the owner’s manual out to try and figure it out is not something you hear about often.

    That is a real bummer.

I hope it is fixed like it never happened.

Makes me want the safe now.

I had a vw beetle broken into once. Dang dummy broke out the vent window, but the car wasn't locked.

So, so sorry this happened to you @YeOldeRusty
On the bright side (for us!) you’ve given us maybe the best test ever that our safes are worth their salt. Hoping you had some nice valuables in there that made you feel great to find intact. Also hoping those fingerprints help you get satisfaction when the scum get thrown in prison. Keep us posted and let us know how it goes! Hang in there your truck will be fixed soon

hopefully just because it's a console safe you don't keep any valuables inside over night.

    That Sucks!!!
While I can see a safe being useful when say running into a store or somewhere you're not allowed to carry.
    But it does invite thieves!!
They see that safe and assume there's something of value in it.
Think I'd do what we used to do at our weekend place. But without the can goods.
We were only around 100 miles from the border so we'd get illegals walking down the river all the time.
We put up a sign in Spanish saying there's nothing of value in the cabin.
And we'd leave out can goods and other non perishable foods with a can opener and some bottled water.
It was usually gone when we'd show up for the weekend.
We did get broken into one time and the local Sheriff came out.
He asked if there were any firearms in the place.
Told him yes there's a pump 12 gauge Shotgun in the return air duct behind the filter.
He commented that that was a good place to hide it since the majority of illegals have no idea how an A/C system works.
Think I'd leave the safe unlocked and bring in my firearm every night.

We'd have illegals knock on the door begging for food and water every once and awhile.
I'd point out a house about a 1/4 mile down river and tell them they'd help em out.
........the local Border Patrol Agent lived there.
He came by one day and asked me if it was me sending the illegals to his place.
I told Him yeah it was me.
While He said it was Funny as Hell please stop doing it and just call him.
He was worried about his Wife and Kids which I get..

I hope your deductible is low, bummer that happened. About two years ago my F250 had a nighttime visitor… my fault for not locking the doors, really unusual for me to not to lock it up. Anyway I have a small compartment just to the right and below the steering column where I have a toggle switch for a grill mounted 32 inch light bar. Well apparently while going through the truck the first thing they looked in was that compartment, the light turned on and lit up the cul de sac. My neighbor called me in the morning and asked me if I knew that my light at was on, I knew something was wrong. Went out to my truck and not one thing that I could tell had been taken, my guess is the light scared them away. A few months earlier my next door neighbor had his Dodge Cummins gone through, he’s a drummer for a church band and his wallet and snare drum were stolen. My cameras caught an suv stop in the cul de sac… then the thief walking past my house with the snare drum in a bag. I then added a motion light to cover my neighbors driveway and my enclosed trailer, a few weeks after I added the camera an suv came into the cul de sac, it was about 0400, I had the camera set to flash while recording. The suv must’ve seen the camera light flashing then left quickly, after reviewing the footage with my neighbor we realized it was the same suv…
