Yup, Mevotech is complete and utter fucking garbage. How funny would it be if the shitty UCA ended up being the primary contributor to you spending all this extra money on new UBJ? OEM wins, every time. Buy once, cry once.

Also looks like your tire has been making contact with the knuckle/UBJ. Another potential contributor here.

Gumbo it was... Cooked down some tomatoes and okra. Browned some gator. Sweated a trinity.. Made a dark roux... put it all together with a bit of cajun spice and thinned it down with a quart of crawfish stock. Added the andouille and let it simmer for a bit.
    Knocked it outta the park

Anyone buy a new dishwasher lately? Seems like Bosch is still considered the "best" by many but open to suggestions. The Bosch 500 from Costco is what I'm leaning towards.

I have a Bosch 500 series and do like it. No complaints except that (like all new dishwashers) it doesn't vent from the top so you are forced to use jet dry or a drying agent or else they do not dry.

Really? Even our 15 year old Whirlpool dries dishes well. I was reading that the 500 series from Costco is different than if purchased elsewhere. It doesn't have the auto air feature.

New dishwashers don't dry dishes? Is that an energy savings thing?

I put a Whirlpool WDF330PAHT in 2 years ago and it works like you'd want it to and yes, it does have a drying setting. It was one of only two brands that still offered Bisque as a color option as well.

It has to do with the fact that old school dish washers vented from the top and new dishwashers vent from the bottom. Because warm air rises, the steam has no where to go with a vent at the bottom. That's why they don't dry as well, unless you use Jet Dry.

Daughter was involved in a hit and run this morning on her way to school. Someone clipped her as she was moving into a turn lane, they were flying up behind her. They proceeded through the light as it it turned red and never stopped. She is okay but now the truck has almost matching marks on both fenders and I'll have to totally replace the bumper cover now instead of just smoothing out and repainting the other side. Hopefully I can pop that fender back somewhat straighter. Need to look at the rim as you can see the scuff mark on the "Coop" on the lower one and I can just make out a scuff mark on the rim there too.

Check out this thread for information if you end up using insurance. There is a very, very high probability that it will be a total loss.

Anyone run the Toyo Extensas on something other than their Tundra? Discount Tire sale ends today and I'm about to pull the trigger.

Someone did this to my wife in our previous Highlander, but clipped the rear corner, blasting around here when an event was going on in town, because they didn't want to wait. Old beater pickup truck involved, and they almost ran over someone speeding around my wife and the line of cars in front of her. Total BS.

I can't see how bad the damage is, have the front end/alignment checked out, or measure with a tape to make sure both front wheels are parallel, front and back. Did they clip the front rocker also, or is all the damage isolated to the fenders?

I'll know more tonight, at work right now. She took the photo after she got to school. She said she didn't feel anything out of the ordinary while driving it and it looks like it is contained to the edge of the fender and the bumper cover. I am surprised the cover stayed on since it is missing the clips across the front under the grill from when she scraped the garage wall. Plenty of donor trucks on FB marketplace right now. Especially the blue one I was looking at getting the retractable bed cover from. May have to go take a look at it and see. Only problem may be that it has fender flares and mine doesn't. How difficult would it be to convert the bed to having stock fender flares to match the front or removing flares from a front fender?

Depends if the fender flares are double-sided-taped on or not. There are two styles of flares on earlier trucks, the TRD version and Limited version, IIRC (the profile difference is similar to the diff'ce between quarter-round moulding and shoe moulding). I think, for the most part, they required having the fenders square-hole punched from the factory. The square holes have clips installed that hold the plastic moulding on, and there's a rubber seal around the edge of the flare.

BTW, if you don't currently have a dashcam in the truck, you certainly should by now. It sounds like you could use the extra visibility of what's happening while the young'uns are driving.

With no traffic, it's about an hour, both ways. It's way up NE of Atlanta, almost to Lake Lanier.

Most of our Tundras.com 1st Gen members I'm aware of are either on the south side of ATL, or farther up into NW GA (Cummings, Kennesaw, Dalton, Canton, etc.)

I'm about an hour northwest of Chattanooga off of I-24. So about 3.5 hours away depending on traffic in Chattanooga. Half to think about it.

Well, most of the damage is to the fender and turn signal. The headlight assembly and the red trim piece underneath are slid over the as well. But it looks like maybe those are attached to the fender and would explain that. I popped both fender trim pieces off since they were both just hanging there anyway. Didn't realize how little was holding them on in the first place. Bumper is mainly held on by screws on the bottom side. I will put in some bolts with washers on the missing plastic pins under the grill to HD it in place for now. Not sure I'm going to be able straighten that fender out.

Edit: the marks on the rim and tire are rubber transfer from the other vehicles tire. So everything good there. About to drive it home now.

A little heat and a firm push from the back side of the bumper skin should allow it to pop most of the way out. Just make sure the door skin isn't grabbing the fender edge - if it is, pull the fender forward; no point in damaging the door's paint more than it already is.
