Did a little Ford rescue. The trailer is a little heavy on the front :)

Then, two days later the battery just failed. No warning. Just pushed the button and the truck went click.... 4 volts at the battery. Just shy of 4 years.

Retail was close to $1k each so I had to take both. One for the Tundra and one will get shared between 4runner and Yukon Duramax.

I started the long journey of removing as much silver and chrome from my truck's interior as possible. For starters, I replaced the silver steering wheel trim with replacements from Meso customers and swapped out the silver radio surround with the OEM black version. I also installed back door handles from.... well, I think they're from Meso, but I don't recall as I bought them almost a year ago. More importantly, while I had the dashboard open, I also disabled the Toyota DCM. I put together a write up here that I hope someone out there finds useful.

No unfortunately. They’re so hard to find with low miles and for the right price around my area. But honestly I’m digging the Duramax. Full air ride suspension is a dream. Towing the trailer is more comfortable than the Tundra.

Yeah. Miles don’t really matter that much with this platform. I have 205k on mine. It’s 16 years old, and I could still get $20k for it lol

Trust me I said the same thing to my wife, but it was for her so she had the final say and said she wanted something newer with low miles. I couldn’t argue with her since she let me keep the 4runner too :). Getting 30 mpg in the Duramax is nice too.

Replaced the drivers side CV...done it enough now that the torque values are memorized.

Went to torque the caliper bolts and must have used up all their torque....that lovely feeling when it goes from tight to loose is never fun. Went to Napa and bought a set of caliper bolts, but, those didn't have enough torque from the factory, so I had to go back to Napa and pick up a brand new caliper.

That went on without issue; had the wife help me bleed the brakes, and was back on the road. Time for a 710 change today.

Now you just need to supercharge the Tundra.

I think the babymax is pretty decent actually. But I swore off GM long ago. I’ve worked on them too many times on the side of the road lol.

We have no indication that we’re nearing the end of the life of our current LX. I’d like to say I’ll replace it with another one or a 5.7 Sequoia, but who knows when the time actually comes.

I’m leaning more towards 5.29 gears and lockers for the Tundra. Do a body mount relocate and run 39-40s.

The 4runner is staying how it is and my daughter will get it in 6 years. But for now it’s going to be our trail rig. Getting a 5th gen on 35s for a first rig is pretty cool. I got a damn Daewoo when I was 17 haha.

Once the warranty runs out in the gmc I’m going to delete the def and tune it. Should be pretty fun to drive.

I also pushed for a sequoia. There was a 2021 trd pro local but she didn’t like the look. She’s nuts .

Nice! I was just looking at the Rhino rack system for the 2.5G roof. Not a bad looking system.

Gave the truck a good cleaning today. Started by crawling under it with a brush and simple green to get 5 yrs of road grime off, then sparyed it down with tire shine.

We must be twinning. I've been pushing a 2nd gen sub 20k mile trd pro Sequoia to solve the 3rd row need. But but ultimately lost when she finally consented under the condition we do a side by side comparison. We went to a used car lot and did that, while listing out the goals of the vehicle. Sequoia lost on looks and 2 of the three top reasons we wanted a bigger car.

So we then went and test drove a Yukon XL AT4 Ultimate with the Diesel ( no chevy V8 lifter issues for me).

Dealer messed it up. He talked about being end of month and wanting to make a deal. Wife surprisingly loved the AT4 to the extent that we were leaning into buying it on the spot. But then he didn't even attempt to negotiate at all and saying we either want it or not. So she rightly got upset and we left.

Now I'm shopping around for another one.

Light duty maintenance jobs for the long wknd on the 4.6L Workhorse (78k miles):
Oil change (last wknd), Re-polished the headlights (right at 1 year mark since last doing them) w Cerakote this time around, changed cabin air filter, cleaned throttle body, replaced rubber antenna mount.
Was gonna finally take a run at painting that glorious SR silver grill surround. Did a quick test run on the back of the top bulge piece. Texture came out like wood grain after a couple of coats (did a scruff up with 600 grit then 1000). Weather was rainy and/or 1000% humidity and hot so figured I was pushing luck a bit w conditions. Maybe another time.

Finally got around to finishing the carpet and final bolt in on the rear seat delete platform. This is in a double cab. Stoked on the end result. Bolted into oem seat mounts.

IMG_1398.jpg IMG_1389.jpg IMG_1403.jpg Installed the TVD vinyl kit for the TRD wheels over the past 2 days. Wheels were looking pretty rough but cleaned up very nice after a good detail first. Used Adam’s wheel and tire cleaner got in there with a boars hair brush and scrubbed all the shit out of the nooks, rinse and repeat then dried, buffed them with 3D ONE compound/polish with Adam’s foam wheel polisher tool on my drill, wiped clean with microfiber towel and then washed with Mr. Pink super wash from Chemical Guys. Wiped surfaces to be covered with vinyl real good with IPA. The gloss black vinyl kit makes a huge difference in the appearance and was actually pretty easy to install following their instructions for $50 can’t complain.

Most folks dont know that Daewoo is the Korean Husqvarna....they make knives, cars, tools, firearms(Galil clones!) and a bunch of other stuff...the US just wasn't ready for the ugly ass wagon they made.
