Octopi are definitely weird. Their blood is copper based. One of the few living animals in the animal kingdom that are like that.

I think celestial bodies are super interesting. Something like a Magnetar, or Super Massive Black Hole like Ton 618 which is one of the largest bodies we have observed.

The deeper we peer into our visible Universe, the less we understand it. It's actually fantastic!

Hadn't been to the fair in roughly 6 or 7 years.Long enough for the memory to fade as to why it's not my favorite place. Now with prices jacked to the moon, its lost its appeal to me. The cheese curds, while amazing and delicious, were $10 for a little tray that were gone in about a minute between my wife and I.The people watching can be fun-ish, but not enough to offset the massive hordes.I'll give it another 7 to 10 years, maybe it'll improve. o_O:rolleyes:
(This was 30 seconds in on the cheese curds...about 1/2 gone.)

Part of it is the nostalgia for the "fair experience" one had as a little kid.
"Machinery Hill": Getting to climb around on the latest tractors and combines as a kid is pretty cool.
That's one of many things that no longer exist.

But we got to check out quite a few e-bikes and sit in a few "fun" cars.
Rivian R1T and R1S were highlights.

Thank God it wasn't hot with all those people.

90 degrees out today so naturally it was time to winterize the trailer.

In a month or so it will be time for me to winterize mine. Which here means start using it again because it will be cool enough to actually go camping again. Right now, we're thinking of a mid October trip.

It's not like you are actually going to show up anyways. Besides, nobody ever knows where T2S is going to be. Could be Sedona, Flagstaff, Oak Creek, or some random spot near-ish to one of those locations.

Those are the only events I will be attending....

During the day, I'll be in the confines of my hotel room w/blackout curtains deployed and sound machine blarring while I sleep off the previous night's antics!!!

You don't want to have to drive back to a hotel after drinking all night around the camp fire. Just do like @TILLY said and strap you coffin in the back of the truck when you drive down.

PS> Note how easily the multi-quote brings that together for an efficient post.

Is there life outside of our solar system? Almost certainly.

Is there intelligent life outside of our solar system? Probably.

    Now reality sets in.

Unless we, or that other intelligent life have discovered how to travel faster than the speed of light it won’t matter a bit if they’re out there. At least not for our purposes.

When you go outside and look at a star in our own galaxy, another galaxy like say Andromeda, a nebula, or a globular cluster you are observing the visible spectrum radiation (light) emitted from that body.

That visible and not visible to the human eye radiation could have been emitted millions of years ago depending on how far away the object is.

You can go outside with a good set of binoculars and observe a star like Betelgeuse in the constellation Orion. Actually it’s easily visible to the naked eye. As best as can be determined it’s pretty close to us, only 400-600 light years away. It’s a massive red giant, variable brightness as it ejects shit out of itself obscuring its brightness from time to time. Eventually it will go supernova and explode, which will make it brighter than any other object in the night sky. If it happened tonight to our observation, the actual event would have taken place between the years 1425 to 1625. That’s on a relatively close star.

So even if we detected a signal for example from a distant solar system it could be hundreds, thousands, maybe millions of years old by the time it reaches us. By the same token all the signals we emit take that much time to travel that same distance.
