Well, my suspension travels until it doesn't and I guess that's long compared to say a lawnmower. But then the BS part would and could be something like I was part of the SAS when I went into space aboard the space shuttle as a door gunner.

4WD’s where it’s at yo. I mean 2WD you’ll definitely pull bigger numbers, but that’s not the most important thing with high performance desert trucks.

shit there’s some awd trophy trucks out there that are boogie-ing.

I'm 2wd and I know quite a few others as well. It has it's limits of course but it suits me and what I enjoy doing with my truck.

I'm nowhere near building a long travel truck. But Iove them lol. I have a 2wd '22 and it's my daily. I dream about building it into a proper prerunner style truck. Pretty new to the whole thing.

I know 4 wheel would be optimal. I think I would be more interested in desert running and less crawling- maybe 2wd would be fine for it. If not, I'll have to switch before I build anything. Those 4x4 wheel trophy trucks are wild. But that is more recent.. A lot of those were 2wd for a long time.

Driver mod helps. Most of the big luxury prerunner builds are two wheel drive. Less complications, more travel, less weight etc etc. 17-18 it’s the limit for 4wheel drive for travel. And when setup properly anything over 15 up front is good. The key is having a ton of rear travel. I’m holding out as long as possible to keep 4 wheel drive but there will be a time it’s gone.

I'll wait until this truck is paid off and save up for a tow rig. Then I'll chop up this tundra haha. I love reading all of your guys builds and info in this LT forum.

Stock ones held up well definitely recommend shock tower tie-ins. The stock buckets are coming out moving forward

Well it can be done but it's obviously not ideal. Can add another tow shock setup and bump the psi and valving etc then also stiffen up the main shock as well. We were planning on this for the old mans rig since he still tows items.

Is the issue front or rear?

I just bought everything for the rear relocation kit from Camburg, the fabricator mention this is probably the most "travel" I can use while still be able to tow as much as I do.

Depends spring over or under. Bigger issue for towing spring under. Spring over Is def better. And if you got the camburg relocation then it's spring over. Leaf spring loads the issue. LT you want travel to move etc towing you want it to haul weight lol. Very opposite ends of the spectrum

I want the cake and eat it too.

I've saw on youtube about cantilever suspension, what is that like? beside saving the bed, what else does cantilever offer above normal leaf set up? or even links?

Space saving. Motion ratios harder to tune, more moving parts to maintain etc. I personally wouldn't even do that. And links are far worse for towing/no towing lol
