    Hang in there. It took me three solid months of searching and I had a placement agency helping me (courtesy of the company that laid me off).

    Thankfully I spend most of my time very positive about it. I felt something coming so we squirreled away as much cash as possible. I have a few more months before I start freaking out.

    Although, the sooner the better... once I get paid again I will be getting my remote start and log splitter lol...

    For now, I am just spending all day with my son and then nights applying or working on my website/business.

    a right elbow with bursitis.

    I will keep my farm truck as long as possible. It was my dads ford ranger 5 spd. It is fun to drive around and unfortunately it sits too much. reminds me, I need to finish wiring in the tesla seats

    I agree that for the most part autos are much better than they used to be.
    (Excluding many CVT's)

    I had to think about it for a minute. I've had 8 manuals.
    All but one were daily drivers and nothing super special.
    All were more fun to drive BECAUSE they were manuals.
    Especially #8: 1987 Porsche 944S

    Is that a Cricut on the bench? I picked a Maker (Gen1, I think) virtually unused from Goodwill down in FL for ~$66. Only thing wrong with it? Power brick was shorted out. $25 and a blade later, I was in business.

    That describes my 2000 MKIV GTI VR6.

    OTOH, I also had an early 2000s RSX-S (I think 2003?), which was 6spd manual, but was probably one of the most boring manuals I've ever owned.

    The fuck you mean "only 90"!? That's refuse to leave the a/c weather.

    It's 75 here right now and I just finished helping with a concrete pour. It's too damn hot.

    Appreciate the input! A lot of what I'm looking for currently is 'Remote', but I'm open to hybrid. This go-round, I'm leveraging contacts, and those have been my two best leads. One would be working for a EU company, flying to manage stuff in their datacenters. The other would be based out of Massachusetts managing technical services for a well-known entity in the systems management realm.

    I think the hardest part to convey, despite having oodles of public C-level accolades, is I can literally do any-fucking-thing. If I don't understand it, I'll spend the next few hours learning it fundamentally to at least a novice level, and that's only if I don't understand it at a senior level. It's been that case with everything in my life. And throughout my career, I've pretty consistently been the Swiss Army Knife folks go to when they can't figure out who the right person is, I usually knock it out of the park. You can't slap that ability, that talent, that knack into a resume in the tiny window you have. Because if your resume is more than one page, front & back, nobody reads the shit.

    And the whole ATS resume scanning is bullshit. Last fall, i.e. my last go-round before starting my consulting/technology business - and the reason I recently spent 5-6 hours rewriting my resume in a more ATS-friendly format a few Saturdays ago - I was getting a 40-50% rejection rate within 5-15 minutes of filling out applications. Which, cool, at least I heard something. But I know there was no way in hell a human was processing all this stuff, and anyone [human] who'd have taken the time to review my resume would've seen I was a great fit for the job, never underqualified, always qualified or sometimes overqualified for the role.

    It is pretty unnerving, and while I still have some financial cushion from my layoff payout, I really need to find something in the next 8-12 weeks or I'll be in the oh-shit-panic-time mode @Florida AF is describing. It's also disheartening seeing more mass-layoffs at the big names, I saw Cisco let go of a shedload of people this past 7-10 days, making the market even more saturated than it was before. That, and looming recession, it's not offering up a lot of confidence.

    Call me crazy but I think we will see a post from you about a job offer soon.

    I think a recruiter might be able to help in your situation as far giving the resume a once over to make sure the verbiage is just right.

    =========================

    I don't know if this is helpful or not. I have two sections on the bottom of my resume where I highlight some general things. It's where I am trying to showcase some soft skills.

    Here is what it looks like:

    PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
    • Effective interpersonal communication skills
    • Strong analytical and creative problem solving ability
    • Ability to work with cross functional teams and stakeholders throughout the organization
    • Supervisory, Management experience
    TECHNICAL SKILLS
    • Proficient in all components of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
    • Proficient in use of JD Edwards (JDE), SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), Peoplesoft, Various other ERP Platforms
    • Full cycle GAAP Accounting

    ===============

    Don't mean to bombard this thread with job stuff. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions I can help with.

    I just got to take a RAM RHO ride along experience. We went fast and absolutely launched over some jumps. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
