Soo I'm thinking of getting this tundra camper shell, does these need a bracket or just a pixelglass/glass?

It needs a new window and I'm fairly sure Leer no longer makes it, that's one of the older shells, very old serial number, and has been long-phased-out

Usually back glass costs around $350-450 for the framed glass with hinges. Because of the curvature of the back plane, you're not going to slap a piece of plexi back there and have it work.

I wouldn't buy it. I would never buy a camper shell these days when something is broken/missing, unless replacement parts are available. Windows and doors usually aren’t on older stuff. With Leer shells, if it doesn't have a modern badge like this, you don't want to bother. Anything that lacks a multi-color badge (for Leer at least) is going to be so old it's out of support. As you can see in the 2nd pic of the ad, it's using the old silver stamped badge. That's oooooooooooold.

I edited my post a bit to share other thoughts. I think @MT-Tundra can speak to it. He got nearly the same shell with busted rear glass and spent quite a few bucks with limited success trying to fab custom solutions.

    Or mine.

It can be done, it has been done. Is it worth it? Up to you, but the reality is that unless you already have a pretty well-stocked garage full of specialty tools, or a friend who does, and some experience with this type thing, it's going to consume many many hours of your time, and end up costing closer to $600-$700 in the end. If you have to experiment, fail, experiment more, you'll be getting up towards $1,000. That's how it went for me. You could likely find an intact topper for $6-700..

I bought mine without back glass for $300, and it wasn't in as a good shape as the one you posted. So there's that...but yeah, in hindsight I would have just kept looking for an intact topper.

For what it's worth, my back window has held up great for a year now. It's not as good (doesn't seal as nicely) as the original would have, and it probably wouldn't work for someone in sloppy/slushy winterland areas, but for the intermountain west it works just fine.

Yeah, it's a frameless with a frame. The glass doesn't go inside the frame, it sits on top of it, and the edges of the glass are bare, without frame, where they make contact on the top and sides. It sticks with adhesive onto the frame. But I imagine completely frameless windows are even harder, and have more of a curve. I was able to get away with flat glass. It doesn't fit perfect, but with weather stripping, it works. But if the original had any more curve, I don't think I could have used flat glass. I think the company I bought my glass from can do curved glass.

    Do you mean plexiglass?

Read through my thread. Anything can be done. Whether it's worth it and whether you're up for it, only you can decide.

You say “just gotta lock it good”. Does it need to be weatherproof or weather resistant? If not, you can just put a perfect piece of hog/cattle panel across there. Or do that as your plexiglass support for a little weatherproofing/“good locking”? In Mexico I used to see people just put window screen over theirs.
