Sweet! I visited them two Septembers ago. Was the only time I've been to WA. They want me to move up there. Part of me wants to, but I don't think I could move that far away from my immediate family. At least not until my parents pass. I'd like to stick around to make sure they are ok for a few more years.

Oh cool man! It’s beautiful here but I would never move here if I lived elsewhere, my folks and sister are the only thing keeping me in this state as well.

Well, last time I was here, I had posted about someone giving me a free steering rack from their 06 Sequoia. I did the teardown tonight, and I found out why he was giving it away, or so I think.
A Little backstory: The guy posted on our local Toyota Trucks Facebook group (Toyota Trucks of Arkansas, feel free to join, you don't have to be from Arkansas!) he replaced his rack due to a "leaking steering pinion seal, nothing else wrong with it"

During the teardown tonight, I found a few things that pointed to prior neglect or someone accidentally dropping the rack and damaging one of the lines. I think one of the lines got kinked, fluid wasn't properly flowing, which caused debris and junk to get collected in the area, which eventually completely stopped fluid flow, causing a pressure backup in the rotary valve, which eventually blew the seal and caused the fluid leak he was talking about.

Outside of the weird buildup and damaged steering line, it looks like everything is in okay condition to proceed with a reseal. I'm going to give everything a dip in the ultrasonic cleaner and/or parts washer at work while I wait for the reseal kit to come in. I'm also going to try and evaluate the condition of the bearings and whatnot after I clean them, to see if they can be reused.

Mine is a Limited but it has the chrome on the side mirrors.

Could be a previous owner stuck "Limited" badges on the truck......anything is possible when you are the 7th owner! :eek2:

I hate not having emission or safety inspections. Some dipshit with bald brakes or tires is gonna put me in prison.

Speaking of brakes, as you know the 06 14wa's are perfection.
The 03 I suspect may have been in a front end collision at some point, because both sides rotors were perfectly square, yet both dragged the brake pads at a certain point. It looked like the rotors were warped, but they weren't. All I could think was either the machining job on the calipers were slightly off, the spindles were bent, or maybe the bearings are bad.
    What do you think?
Both trucks stop great, but after driving the 06 the last few days, then taking the 03 to work tonight, I feel like it isn't braking as good as it could be.

I used to drive a 1975 Pontiac Bonneville.......let me tell you about "brake effectiveness."

There have been a few times, usually pulling the 2-axle trailer loaded with two zero turn mowers, where I should have left myself a little bit more room.......but as it was, still able to stop. Also, need to hook up a brake controller.....

Do you turn off overdrive and/or manually down shift? Gotta love the amount of control we can take over the 5 spd.

What is this "overdrive" you speak of? LOL

Whenever we are pulling a trailer, I push the button at the end of the shifter and turn overdrive OFF.

I downshift to Shift L when going down or up a very steep hill but I only do that for one yard, which is arguably, the hardest-to-reach yard we go to. It's off by itself, near the bottom of a very steep and curvy road.

We really should cut clients like that off and replace them with someone easier-to-mow and higher paying but the truth is, I get attached to them (always older people on a very limited income) and I wonder "who else are they gonna get?"
