I had the dealership disable the door open chime and the seatbelt chime. No cost. How this is done may be dependent on the year truck you have.

You can see if your dealer will do it, or you can buy Techstream software and cable and do it yourself.

Just buy a seatbelt extender plug it in leave it and no more seat belt reminder. That easy.

Well I gotta say it, put your seat belt on. I've worked on too many patients that couldn't be bothered to put their belt on. Doesn't matter if your on or off road or at any speed. If you are unrestrained and the airbag deploys, or you are ejected/partially ejected it will be life altering if not fatal.

    Wear your seatbelt kids.

    PSA over.

This is a good message, its just so annoying seeing it every time someone posts this thread. Not trying to call you out but literally every single time someone asks this same question and specifically states that they aren't doing anything dangerous someone is there to give them shit and try to talk them out of it.

Obviously wearing a seatbelt in any vehicle is the smart move, but most people are willing to sacrifice the .00001 chance that they die in a fatal accident going 10 mph down a dirt road for 30 seconds of peace and quiet.

I can see how working in the field that you do will give you a different perspective on things though, so not bashing at all for the message you are spreading, just think there is a better place for it (the people who really need to hear this aren't the ones that work on a farm/ranch who need to stop and get out very often).

To the O.P.: you have 3 options,

    1. Seatbelt extender
    2. Seatbelt plug
    3. Disable it via techstream/dealer

This is option 2: ($2.99 fix)

I have always lived rural and don’t like the belt latched between my house and the gate. Once through the gate and on the road, it’s always latched.

Personally I don’t need more gadgets to lose or look for in the dark. I have a hard enough time keeping track of my keys, lol.

Did my '13 with the techstream. Have the same problem. Gate is over 1/8 mile, and if my automatic gate opener (aka wife) isn't in the truck with me I don't care to listen to the chime all the way to the gate.

I find the chime less annoying than most people. :cool:Checking fence though, I could see your perspective.

I love the disclaimers on it. "Do not use" "Do not use this to plug in seat" Good advertisement for your product haha.

I guess I didn't explain well enough. Let me try once more...
    Go to vehicle
    Open door
    Reach for seat belt
    Insert seat belt into buckle
    Enter vehicle
    Start vehicle
    Go about business

Is that better? I didn't mean to offend you by posting so I do apologize.

You make it sound so simple...

Not offended just annoyed at the people who don’t seem to even bother reading the O.P. before spouting nonsense like “just wear your seatbelt ok?”.

He clearly stated his intensions and yet people still give him shit.

    Just seems kinda douchey.

I believe he means fastening the seatbelt and then sitting on top of it rather than actually wearing it, to be fair.

dealers seem to have no problem turning it off for most people, especially if you work on a ranch. If they won’t, get techstream. I had to. So worth the seat belt chime alone.

Clearly what he was trying to explain. We used to do this at work, working on construction sites, pad sites, back country, fields...all slow going. Buckle the belt in and then even put the cross strap behind the seat if you don't want it on your back.

I didn’t get that but if thats the case then my apologies to @Ps3udonymous

Seemed like he was just regurgitating what the other guy said about needing to wear your seatbelt at all times which completely ignores the point of the post.

+1, I disabled on both my Tacos. On the Tundra I fasten the seat belt behind me but would prefer to just disable. Problem with that is I always forget at the last gate when leaving. I only remember when I reach for the belt. Then I have to work it to the front or stop and get out. Dealer I bought last Tacoma from said they would do it then switched gears on me. This was even after I pointed out that it was a customizable feature as noted in owners manual.

They do this on the Tacoma forum every time the subject comes up. City folks don't understand.

After being in a Polaris RZR accident and getting ejected, I always wear my seat belt.

Having said that, I had the dealership disable mine. My dog rides with me often and would set the chime off on the passenger seat and I would have to buckle it for him every time. Got pretty annoying, and the dealership had no issue doing it for me. Now if only I could get the ding for key in ignition to go away I would be set!

I'm not sure if it can be made to go away, but via TS, it can be turned down.
