I am considering trading up my 22 Limited Tundra. I have a 27’ total length travel trailer. Max weight would be 7K lbs. how does this format do with this type of pulling?

My Tundra is a double cab. I love the look of it, but want to have 5 people and maybe a dog or two when we go camping across the country.

Im towing about 5k with mine. 24' bunkhouse, so about the same length. Much more power on the highway and up hills than my Crew Cab Sierra 5.3L. BUT you feel the wind a lot more with the shorter wheelbase. Towed last week with a stiff cross wind, and it was white knuckle at times.20250817_172240.jpg

The thing I’d be most concerned about is tongue weight and payload capacity. I think the tongue weight capacity is less on the Sequoias.

I had a 2nd gen Sequoia, and traded up to a Tundra for that reason. In my Sequoia I did install air bags. Fully loaded tongue weight on campers typically adds up and can be an issue.

Another thing that might be a consideration with a new Sequoia, getting the RAS if possible or what kind of aftermarket air bag options might be needed.

I have the Timbren SES axle bump stops on my Tundra. Would they be usable on a new Sequoia? RAS? I had the Roadmaster Active Suspension on an older Ford Excursion, that was very nice for towing that kept original feeling suspension.

Sorry I’m not sure. On the new Sequoias and Tundras, the setup for aftermarket air bags or suspension helpers like the Roadmaster system and Timbren stuff, it’s different than the previous gen. I’m not sure what’s available. I think there are some pretty good threads on the forum about the options, in the third gen section.

The RAS I mentioned is the Factory Rear Air Suspension. I have it on my truck and really love it. It is self leveling, and also you can lower the suspension to help hook up/disconnect from the hitch, which is nice.

I’ve heard great things about the Roadmaster system, but not sure if they have something for the new suspensions on the new sequoia/tundra.

Do you use weight distribution and/or anti-sway controls?

I use these religiously, even when I pulled with an 04 Excursion which had an ability to pull 20K weight.

I’m curious if not, how that would help you. I see a shorter wheel base, I need to see what the difference is between my double cab w/ 6.5’ bed is.

I did love the tighter turning radius in the 2nd gen Sequoia, not sure with the new one if that changed. And the shorter wheelbase makes backing into a site a lot easier.

Other thought, it’s too bad they don’t make a new Sequoia that’s non hybrid, because the batteries eat into the payload capacity.

I saw that with the hybrid only. I do agree with your comment. The power from the motor alone is plenty enough for me.
