Whatever this forum told me to do
And I’m not sure it will help them sell more

MS is a sedan. Most folks are not shopping for a high end sedan. If they are, it ain’t Tesla

MX is a kinda suv. Most folks don’t like the doors
    simple as that.

    that being said

both of those vehicles are in the top of the class for the respective buying class.

most folks just don’t cross shop Tesla

    True on almost all points.

I'd only disagree with the sedan/cross shop parts. If somebody wants 4 doors and performance is think the Teslas are on the radar. The performance is too well known for anyone shopping spray 4 doors to not at least look at it.

Now, luxury sedan owners aren't looking, you are correct. The nameplate matters to a lot of folks, and if it's not a luxury brand it must be for us lower class peoples.

    FSD alone is $8k
Free lifetime s/c? That’s almost invaluable- especially if at peak times
Premium connectivity (to stream, web, and live traffic / GPS) I think is $100 a year in itself

    Yeah..
Same old story that's not exclusive to EVs.

Any higher end vehicle brand with bigger wheels is expensive

Like some others on here I own both a 2020 Tundra Crewmax Limited TRD Off Road package and a 2024 Tesla Y dual motor. Both together make sense. My Tundra is our go to for trips. 500 miles to a tank, plenty of room, just comfy/fun to drive. The Tesla is around town and short trips, savings on gas, maintenance etc. and the speed and tech are awesome. Would not buy the CT for looks alone, but the price puts the nail in the coffin. 2 EVs would make no sense at all with power outages (Florida hurricanes) and distance/charge location limits. Only got the Y as they were $10K off, $7.5K gov rebate, and the one we got had another $5K off as they damaged the bumper coming off the trailer but had already replaced it with new. So a $60K car for $38.5K. Could not pass that up.

    Same boat as you. :fistbump:

We got our '24 Long Range 3rd row in Oct for $39.5k. Existing inventory discount + gov rebate.
My wife drives the kids all over for school/sports and everything else, we've put on almost 12k miles in 10 months.

    If I didn't need a truck....I'd be in a M3p.

    Reasonable.

If I didn't need a truck (and could afford it) I'd be in a Model X. The S and X have better interiors, IMO.

    S & X are mo' bettah.

    air suspension for the win.

but, for a commuter...you can't beat the price of an M3.

    Here's a rub:

    MOST people commute....like 95%.

they drive less than 55 miles per day.

    and

if I ever found myself commuting in one, I'd buy this thing.
you can program it all kinds of ways.
I REALLY like the way you can program it to do certain things when you are in Rev or Drive.

I prefer 2 physical buttons....A/C temp & radio volume. this does that.

Agree with all the options. Wife picked our Model Y. Can't argue since she lets me do what I want to my Tundra. And again for the price we paid it's a pretty good car.

    Especially if you go used.

Any idea if the tax credit stuff still exists for them, or was it cut in recent legislation?

EV tax credit expires 30 Sep 25. Used cars don't get the full ammount.
